I saw this on another site and thought you chaps would be only to happy to help out here........
"Some help please, I am currently running a camp in Helmand Province in Afghanistan and I would like to get as many people as possible to send my blokes your read bike/car mags. I appologises for the direct approach but due to having to cater for everyones tastes bike/car mags are not delivered as part of our Operational welfare package.
Remember females are out there serving too ....
The postage is free (upto 2kg), all it would cost is the envelope. 2kg is approx 4/5 magazines
The postal address is you would like to help is:
QM
TFH
Lashkar Gar
BFPO 715
Any help will be greatly appreciated and all mags will be read multiple times.
Thanks
Major Andy Lothian
I know some guys on another forum have already sent a few parcels and they have said the post office are very strict on the 2kg limit but dont seem to be mind how many parcels you send. :y

Car and bike mags? Shame. I could dig up quite a lot of 2kg parcels of unread copies of "Engineering & Technology". ::) Not sure they'd be of much interest, though. :-[

Trust me, any magazines you have would be helpful as the variety of interest out there is huge :y

I have some "Knitting Today" and "Modern Sewing" magazines; the guys out there will surely enjoy them. ;D

I've just shipped off our 5 xmas boxes to the Support Our Soldiers BFPO address as we do every xmas. The only mags we have here is a TV mag and the usual gossip type mags, I never read anything ;D ;D

got some old readers wives specials but your need a crate to export them in.

I threw 3 massive piles of car and bike mags out a few years ago, will certainly keep them in mind if I find anymore.

I'm sure the REME(Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) and RE(Royal Engineers) would look and laugh at them.Although most forms of publication do require the use of semi-clad women to hold the sqauddies attention so the readers wives may have some use as well :) :) :) :y

Actually it would benefit magazines to give free copies to the lads out there as they come home with a large wedge of wonga and are looking for ideas on what to spend it on :y

Be a tad careful about sending "adult" mags, or mags with "adult" content, of ANY description out that way ... these are Muslim countries and they have very strict rules .... folks found in possesion can and do get into very deep sh1t.
Military police/UK customs will try and filter such content but it is NOT worth the hassle.
I have seen first hand the agrevation of someone being found in this situation .. and it is NOT funny.
I know I've not been "sandy side" for over a year and things "might" be different ... perhaps "Gaffers" can either agree with me or put the latest info up .. :)
