Title: Treadmills
Post by: Omegadoha, Desert Member on 18 November 2009, 17:11:12
Does anyone find after running a treadmill, it gives you a bit of back pain?

you must not be running correctly, ie too much pronation or you are hitting the heel to hard and jolting up your back.  Try adjusting your style onto the balls of your feet.  If it continues see physioterroristtherapist :y

I run a lot on treadmills as it allows me to get accurate distance/time sessions until I get my gps watch  :y

My wife's got one. She goes on it for 15 minures at seven o'clock every evening. Stops wobbling about 10.

Have to agree with the don't exercise option as I am built for comfort not speed,in comparison I'm an Elite not an MV6

Normal people use an arm chair to watch tv only fitness fanatics use a tred mill for it.

Never seen the point in using one you dont go anywhere. and you dont have the outside elements like wind, rain, hills, prats in cars or on bikes trying to run you over, Takes all the fun out of jogging.

Two drawbacks with treadmills, IMO.

One is they don't reproduce the real difficulties (like Ghost Driver says). You have to set it to maybe +4 incline to be equivalent to wind resistance.

And they don't develop the mental part of keep speed up - 'cos on a treadmill the machine does the thinking for you.

Having said that, they're great for basic cardio - especially in the winter when snow & ice make real running awkward.

Thanks for the replys. I have no choice right now, I have to keep the blood pressure under control otherwise it's more pills.

To Lizzy & Rob in Gib, I've unstrapped the treadmill from my back, makes a hell of a difference.  :D ;D

I have the problem of running in high humidity and 40 deg heat.  ;D But I can handle running in the cold though.  :y
