Looking out into the Universe makes many of us wonder why is it all there?
Well it does me!
Here is a wonderful clip from the Hubble Telescope.

Why is it all there? Maybe some random Quantum fluctuations in 16 dimensional time space continuum..........sod it......God did it! ;)
-
Absolutely awesome, what a great find H 8-) :y :y
-
It's a bit early in the day to be contemplating stuff like that.
-
Brain bending stuff..........another 3,000 new galaxies in apparently "empty space"..............
Is it really only us?........... :y :y :y

.............do they still think the Earth is flat in Wakefield?............ ::) ::) ;)

I only go as far as asda and back..........pretty flat ;D

Very humbling indeed, great find!
But I dont understand one part of the commentary.
"Some of these universes are moving away from us sometimes faster than the speed of light"
How is it possible to see them then. What light is faster than the speed of light? :-/
-
I think what we see is the trail of light that was left behind many, many years ago.
-
I read the title and thought you had been for a penis extention ::) ;D :P

Just because something is moving away at the speed of light does not stop it emitting light re-wards.....if you run off the back of a 30mph train...at 30mph ....what happens.

you die. :y :D ;D

The train stops? ::)

Trains down here don,t often travel at 30mph..yheu have too many people in them !!

I remember writing an essay in school in which i proposed the theory that the galaxy as we know it was indeed nothing but an experiment in a giant test tube by some higher being got an A+
Well now i suppose my teacher would give me nothing above a C
Things like this do make you feel very humble nice post :y

We went to Jodrell Bank a few weeks ago, which since the last time we went has had several things removed like the Planetarium which we enjoyed. Anyway they have a 3D A Trip to Mars film which really is excellent. On the way it takes you past the Sun then other huge stars that dwarf the sun almost to a speck :o

True but if you are moving away from something faster than the speed of light, how can you see it? The light waves will never reach you. It's just like 2 jets flying faster than the speed of sound, if one was infront of the other he would never hear the jet behind him.

Well objects with mass are supposed to be unable to go faster than light.
Too tired to think about relativity and light
