A few of you know that me and a mate are attempting to build a kitcar!
We recently bought a 2.5L Omega Estate for the engine and a few other bits and bobs.
Couple of weekends ago we hacked out the dash and removed the wiring loom. We then proceeded to chop out the majority of the wires hoping that we wouldn’t cut something that was important... Lucky we didn't.
Here’s the outcome...

It does Andy yes! ;D The video doesn't do the sound justice either - It was bloody loud in the barn! :o
Still can't believe how quick she spins up with the automatic flywheel fitted! Like a bike engine almost! :D :D :D
Had to hold on to it best I could too, as she wanted to jump about a fair amount! :P ::)

I've run my Omega with just the down pipe on - changing the exhaust, it would've been rude not to ::) ;D - so I know it sounds unbelievable :y :y I did the same with my Senator - same reason

Automatic 'flywheel'? you mean starter ring!!!! there's not excatly any weght in one, so no wonder it ran up to speed quick! ;) ;) :y :y

How do you make it run without MAF and o2 sensors ? ::)

Must admit, I've had my Elite running with just two decat pipes when I fitted the powerflow exhaust ;D
Yes I guess its more of a starter ring than a flywheel! ;D Its that thin it actually rings when you flick it! :D :)

How do you make it run without MAF and o2 sensors ? ::)
By turning the key and starting it without them! There in to boot of the estate still! ;D
If the sensors aren’t present, the ECU will use a predetermined value. Its not the best, but more than ample for a test run!
Its currently missing 2x O2 sensors, MAF, Air Intake Temp, 1 of the dual ram valves and the EGR as I destroyed it when we removed the engine - Woops! ;D

O2 sensors do nothing until the engine is warmde up so hence they cause no issues.
And the V6 2.5 will use default values based on throttle position etc with no MAF present

looks like the engine mounts are gone ;D
Sounds good, that should shift once its all sorted :y
-
Sounds fine! Will make a cracking kitcar, methinks..... ;)
I ran the Beastie with just the cats/downpipes when I was replacing the exhaust ages ago. Rude not to give it a run!! ;D

Now as much as I like that, I think there’s too many cylinders? V8's seem to be about the best I would say.

Well done, can't wait to get mine going :)

Yes mate! Good luck with yours! :y
Are you planning on using the standard ECU etc too?
-
Good work on the kit cars. Sounds good, i guess next job would be engine mounts?

Yes mate. Just a pain that my mate who was going to do all the welding for us has just lent his welder to someone :(
