Title: Looking for a good service garage
Post by: BettyBlu on 02 December 2009, 11:34:33
Our MV6 is due a major service (just touching 90k miles) but finding it difficult to pin down a good garage.
Are there any recommendations for East London, E3 area?
It's not possible for me to do any work myself but really wish to keep this motor on the road.

Any info much appreciated!

If you don't mind travelling a few miles, I can thoroughly recommend this garage.......
Autocare
Unit 16 Pindar Road
Hoddesdon
Herts EN11 0DE
Tel. 01992 446000

Hoddesdon is only a few miles north of the M25 just off the A10 (easy to find on Google Maps). I've been using them for around 10 years and they've looked after my last 2 Omega's. They've just moved into new premises fitted with latest hi-tec equipment and diagnostics, prices are reasonable and the guys there really know they're stuff.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how the list likes these referrals but I get my cars MOT'd etc. by John at E3 Taxis.  He's right by the Woolwich ferry which can't be a million miles from you.  He's very good and not many taxis were spending on servicing when I was there a couple of weeks ago so there might not be too much of a wait.
Having said that, I see he's in E16! so it would be a run down the A13 for you.
0207 474 6592 would get him if you're interested.
PM me if you want more info; to keep the list happy.

Added later: Just for a laugh I put E3 and E16 2ES into the RAC route planner and it gave 13 minutes to get there but going south of the Thames and back over the Ferry!  I don't think so! ;D

It's 10k overdue for a cam belt change if it wasn't done when due at 80k. Make sure this is included, and that they use the proper setting kit. :y

Thanks for the info! A couple of good leads. Nothing better than a 'word of mouth' recommendation. I'm going this route 'cos I got shafted by a Vauxhall dealer about this time last year - ~£450 for an intermediate.

Cam-belt job is another £400+ isn't it?

Try PM'ing LooKnee as he may be down in your area at some point.
