Upon finding the passenger footwell carpet nice and soggy I finally got round to clearing out the scuttle drain this afternoon.
So, I have to say thanks to fellow OOFers for creating the maintenance guide that made it easy to follow. I can confirm that a length of twin and earth is just right for the job. :y :y
I also feel quite proud that I did some maintenance on the Mig myself for once, rather than paying someone else. Chuffed to bits actually. :)
The only downside is that I scratched up my arm pretty good getting it down there to remove the crud. Just too darn lazy to remove the pollen filter. :P

You've just reminded me I need to renew mine. When I serviced the car in August it was out of stock at Vx, so I.........forgot about it. :-[ :P

Pollen filter is probably soaked and next to useless.

First thing I checked when I got the new Mig, all dry there.
Had the same when I'd had the TD a few months, takes a while to get it all dry.

Nope, have to be honest I haven't replaced the pollen filter.
I'll add it to the list, but what's the reasoning behind doing so.
Is it because it would have got soaked due to the water reaching it, in which case I think the water level wasn't that high (there's a water mark that makes me think this is the case) and the reason the footwell got wet was because I parked on a slope nose upwards.
Or is it just sensible due to the scuttle getting blocked and damp air being drawn through?

The water level may not have been as high as the filter when you were parked but it would have been sloshing around as you were driving so it is bound to have gotten a bit wet.
They are cheap and easy to replace so it's worth doing.

Having just nearly drowned in my Omega, thanks again for the excellent guide.
I used a thin piece of bent bamboo with copious amounts of hot water.
Where mine is parked slightly nose up, water had run into the rear passenger footwell too....it was well over an inch deep.
After blotting with several kitchen rolls, I now have a small fan heater on low heat in the cabin to dry it out.

Make sure you dry the soundproofing material under the carpets as well .. acts like blotting paper and seems to hold gallons !!!! If you leave that even slightly damp bacteria will start to grow and the stench will be horrendous .... not at all nice ... :( :( :( :( :(

Cheers for that....I expect to have the heater in there for at least a couple of days. Will make sure its throughly dried out.. :y

Mine took lots of Vaxing, and took a month for the smell to go.
I was driving in deep floods and got swamped >:( >:( back in 2006 I think
I had disconnected the air filter pipe so I got air at bonnet level.

Someone else at work lost their Fester - water to seats and hydrauliced engine ;D ;D
