Title: Mobile phones and concentration
Post by: Chris_H on 01 December 2009, 15:55:09
I'm sure this topic has been done to death but I just had a very clear demonstration of how using a mobile phone can take up all your concentration.

Lass in her twenties (turned out to be) standing on the pavement to my left with her coat hood up and facing away from me.  With no apparent trigger she walks into the road when I'm 20 yards away and is timed to meet me halfway across my side of the road.  On sounding my horn she jumps, and turns back to the kerb still nattering into her mobile.  The look on her face said it all.

If I'd been in a car and if I'd been close to the kerb, and if I'd been 5 yards away when her neuron fired.....

Between cellular telephones, personal music players and general stupidity there seems to be a nation of topographically blind individuals running around.

This is progress, Christ help us?

Darwin might have failed today, but he'll get another shot at her soon enough. ;)

You only just realised there is a whole generation of f**kwits who seem to believe that any misfortune they suffer is anybody else's fault but theirs?
