My Viano is going.....after it comes back from the repairers....
Main reasons....its still got an air suspension fault that the merc dealer cannot find whats wrong...which is a pita when you have a full driving load at night, coz the headlights dazzle oncoming traffic.
It just uses too much diesel.....it does 25mpg doing town work......rising to just 35mpg on a decent run.
Im leaning towards a French make at the moment ::) ....mainly coz their excellent on fuel consumption :y

What about the new Galaxy TDCi?
Had one collect me from work few weeks ago, very, VERY comfy, very car like to. Much better than the VW Sharan which had seats like rocks.
The dash of the galaxy looked really nice too, and the seats were super soft and supportive.
Not sure on fuel but those TDCi's really pull well :)

Think i'd prefer to drive the Galaxy all day than a traffic :)

How about a Tourneo? That is van based, but so is the Viano. Tourneo's can come in good spec, the 2.0 or 2.4 diesel engine's are pretty good. I'd lean towards the 2.4 personally. But I don't really know what your preferences are. There is absolutely no way to deny the Tourneo's heritage, maybe it's too much of a Van? If not a Tourneo, I'm with tunnie, the current shape Galaxy is nice.

i have a mk2 galaxy 2.3 zetec really suprises me 28 around town and 44 on a run dont see the point in a derv model they are to troublesum the galaxy has been a life saver to us i know now all there little problems and they handle just like a car you can chuck it into bends no problem holds the road like glue :y

Renault trafic is a good bet I found mine great and very comfy, worst fuel consumption I've ever had though that was the 1.9 DCi it was having £10 everyday in that for just a few short trips, gearboxes are very prone too (as I found out with mine was chattering). Very nice though :y
Does it have to be a 7 seater? If not we use Merc e classes 2002 onwards shape some have around 300k miles (no older than 53 plates) and they still drive good most of them. Good on fuel, quick and a nice drive :y
I will say though don't be taken in by Renaults claimed fuel consumption for the trafics if you're looking at one of those, mine was never loaded with anything and it was using £10 per day, good comfy van though, nice to drive, good to look at, nice levels of kit :y

Do you actually need a people carrier/bus thing or would a car suffice? I guess you're only licenced as a 4 seater?
Luggage capacity helps on airport runs etc. I'd be looking at a big comfy estate car. Not necessarily a Mig but Audi Merc Volvo BMW etc.
As much room as a chav carrier & way more class for your passengers. :)

Mercs E220 CDi, E270/280 CDi or an E320 CDi all are great and I agree with Amego much better than a people carrier jobbie :y
Saying that about the mercs though they do get through a few autoboxes due to water getting into them lasting about 30k :-/ And the manual is a pain (only have 1 though) in the backside on a hill due to the handbrake being a pedal, hard to do hill starts without putting into neutral.

Dont understand why the poor fuel consumption :-/
Ive driven a trafic before and i was suprised how good it was on fuel.....mind you it was only about a year old with a 6 speed box in it.
Thats one of my considerations.....a trafic is a 9 seater.....2 more than my viano.....so potentially more work for it :y
A 53 plate vehicle is too old to get licensed where i work unfortuantely....
Dont go and buy a new shape E class at the moment, Merc have an engine problem with all new merc diesels at the moment....injector failures.....the firm i work for has a 59 plate 2.2 E class.....its broken down 3 times so far.....all injector faults.

Trafics are one of the most comfy big vans i've ever driven also much comfier than a friends galaxy.
My trafic did have the 6 speed box also but there must've been something up with it somewhere. Was a good van though :y We do have a few electrical problems here too with our e-classes.
