Title: ABS Trade Club
Post by: ClarCE on 19 March 2007, 16:58:21
Got my autobahnstormers membership card, TC number on the back, thought great - off to vx...

They've made me fill in a form, and where the TC number space is I've put in the ABS one.  Is this normal?  Do I get an actual trade club card and setup on local dealers computer by doing all this lot?

Cheers in advance,

Chris.

you should not have to apply for the Vauxhall TC.... you should just be able to buy parts at TC prices...

the ABS have "trade club status" therefore being a member there you should get parts at trade club prices.

Excellent! Although if I had to wait until I'd worked 4 full days, it would never come ;D

Mine took a week to arrive. First time I went to VX they took the card off me, typed in Autobahnstormers and said this is registered to someone down south.  That would be because thats where the club is based....     I presume this is so they can keep track of card abuse ??

as previously said your yellow card is your TC card   On the back should be a sticker with the Trade club number on it and a membership no and your signature. you shouldn't have to fill in any more forms, I didn't   :)

Rembering that my dealer is the very same dealer that:

1.) Couldn't order the right bolt over the phone for my aux tensioner, then couldn't order the right one when I went in, and could only do it correctly when I took control of their computer.

2.) Thinks there are only 2 cam cover gaskets on a V6, even after I specifically told them that there are FOUR bits of rubber in total, and thats what I need

3.) Thinks that a V6 Omega only needs 4 litres of oil for an oil change

4.) Only responds to ape like noises and the promise of some bananas

I'll go back down again and try and sort it tomorrow..

chris, what exactly did they say?

When i went to the local vx depts part here i had to be 'setup' on their computers, took around 5 mins. They put the TC number in on the card (this was a vx tc card but should work for abs)

I could then buy parts at trade....

This garage is giving you bull... your ABS card has trade status... take the yellow card and give them some stick!

THe dealer might not have set up ABS TC on 'his' systyem, when i got my MIG number i went into 2 local dealers and neither could find the number, but they did give me TC price under someone elses number.

When i got my Vxlscc number i had the same problem, but i had the 'inform article' number so they could check and it all became clear.

BUT not all Vxl dealers participate in the TC scheme, so no matter how hard you argue you could still just tell you to pay full price and be done with it, as happened to one Vxlscc member who lives on the Oarkney Islands, and he cant actually just pop down the road to a different dealer  ;D

I blagged oil. filters and £50 of trade goods at my last visit - couldn't give me a receipt though as it went through local garage account. :y

Its a good sign actualy....it shows they take trade club seriously.....the better outfits will enter your details on the computer....this has a few advantages

1) If you forget your card they can retrieve your details using your address
2) They send you any local special offers in the post (like an extra %10 of trade club prices etc)

Most dont bother.....but, if they do...thats a plus!

Just got my card from abs. Reguarding queries about having to register, it says on the covering letter:

Any queries reguarding the trade club scheme should be referred to Mr Jim Williams, Trade Program Manager at Vauxhall Motors. Please REGISTER under the name of "Autobahnstormers" using this address............

So, apparently, it is, as Mark says, quite usual for vx to register you on their system.

Altho must say parts blokies are helpful......and one of them has an amazing memory....usually has to look up part no....either from TC book or EPC and then can remember it to enter it into their stock system! without having to refer to it again!

After a while on EPC, even I can remember the part numbers...   ...remember an IP address can be longer, and I bet you can remember them ;)

I used to be able to but as phones got memories and you don't need to dial the number any more I can't do it anymore.
