Just spoke to Mum, off to Sussex on boxing day. One of the dogs was a rescue. She was a Hienz, larger version of a sausage dog but long coated with a collie face & one ear up, one down. When she was young she flew around everywhere so was named Dash. It's tough to know i'm not going to see her this year, she just got too old so Dad put her to sleep (retired vet). That leaves one black lab (Beamish) or Beemie named after the ale a little lost & will be getting lots of fuss when i see him. GUTTED but she nearly made 16 Xmas's.
I'm usually a right gobsh*te but i'm happy to admit this hurts. Guy.

It's never a good time or an easy thing to take ... but always seems worse at Christmas.
Your Dad made the right decision and didn't allow suffering.. so just try and remember the 16 good years you had .. and 16 is a damned good innings for a dog.
Sympathies to you and the family ... :'( :'(

yer get a pet and thats all it is but as the years go on they become a member of the family and its bloody hard when they go :(
-
Sorry to hear such sad news, I'm sure she had a good life, just remember the good times with her.
-
Deepest sympathies Guy, they are wonderful creatures, always happy to see you, never angry with you and always sorely missed when they are gone.
-
Rest peacefully dear-Dash.:'(
Can imagine how you must be feeling, Guy.....sending a tele-hug to you. :-*
When God had made the earth and sky,
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name.
And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed Him
until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
and in the Sky and Sea,
the little creature said "Dear Lord,
there's no name left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
And called you DOG, my friend".

Very sad news G, better a peaceful end than continued suffering.
-
My deepest sympathies go out to you guy. As said remember the good years with her. All the best and have a wee drink in her memory.
-
Never nice for anyone & i feel for you. I too have gone through the same feelings many times & i'll keep going through them for many more times, why? The love & happiness they bring out weighs the hurt you feel by a massive amount :y
-
Feelin for you. Dogs are without doubt more than a pet. Try to celebrate her life and remember that she had the very best home and a family who loved her. :)
-
Very sorry to hear this Guy. But I feel sure the right choice was made, it was for the best. They are hard to lose and not called "Mans Best Friend" for nothing.
Alan.

Sorry to hear that mate, always a blow but worse at this time of year. Spoil the other dogs rotten to help them through the grief. It may take your minds off it too.
