Now he has the Elite what about that nice condition GLS he bought?

Shafted box, and quite old iirc?

Break it?

Lots of new parts - he said he was replacing the box, in fact I thought he was using it.

Still a 2.0GLS...

I think all his time will currently go towards his new toy, and with him doing very little travelling now, the LPG less important??

You are all well behind the times ;)

Thanks to a great friend (not a forum member here).. for staying up until unearthly hours with me changing the box! Not a job I could have done alone (not in that time, anyway).

Fair play, ATF is nasty stuff, and you need to get these things pretty high to change the box!!

Must say, was easier than FWD though. It's now driving fine..

But still only getting 21mpg :( ;D

Off topic slightly, but have you retrieved those a/c dustcaps and the cdl motor from one of your breakers? ;)

For the sake of fitting a free autobox, too good to break. Especially with the leather fitted and cleaned up, new stat, full service.. full MOT etc...

It's now in a re-saleable condition.... but we'll make that decision when the Elite is fully sorted, MOT'd, and I have confidence in it! :)

Planning to get the majority of the top end work done over mon-tues, so should know a lot more after then.... then just the MOT....

Poor old Markie, had a prang in that lovely old Mark1 escort the other day :(

At the big M40 roundabout, where you can go to Brackley, or Daventry.... he was in the wrong lane to turn off, and side-swiped a rover 75  :'( :'( :'(

Oh dear I thought you had improved it.

What sort of trips are you doing?

I used to get everyday commuting consumption between 23 and 27 out of my old blue CD Auto 2.0.

Tyre pressures?

Lead foot?

Set it to instant consumption and see what it does - constant 60 should be in 30s comfortably and into 40s a little (on flat).

I kept mine well serviced as well.

So what are the plans for the LPG kit?

Sold for spares, keep for another 4 cylinder?

Sell to Tunnie cheap?

Use on the GLS?

I'm still happy to help and still feel it would be good practice for the Elite IF you still have it done.

That's a tragedy  :'(

Always fancied one of those... With a 2.0 Zetec or maybe a C20XE on throttle bodies under the bonnet :y They were fun enough with a 1300 Xflow :)
