No Wonder Argos can offer a half price sale on end of catalogue items.

I've always found Argos very expensive for anything IT related, only thing i got from them recently was an Iron for £5 and some camping gas bottles
-
Like any other retailer, argos are in it for the money. ;D
-
As Steve says, Argos have always been overpriced.
As for them charging £171 for the 3 year warranty, the consumer already has that (and probably more) in law.....which probably explains why Richer Sounds give the consumer 5 years as standard.

A mate of mine bought a 32" phillips from comet tears ago, and they tried to talk him into a 3 year tube warrany for £180. As he was a phillips fan he refused on the basis he thought he would never have any trouble with it.
When he got home there was a card in the box overing a direct phillips warranty for 5 years for £18.
Comet tale the ssip, they would have pocked the £180 and paid the £18,
Richer sounds extra warranty used to be 3 years, but if no claim you could claim the warranty back at the end, not sure if this is still the case.

Richer Sounds also match any price you give them usually, mate bought some Hi-Fi gear from them, took in a print out of an online retailer, they matched it :)

Downside with Richersounds they buy in bulk as a product comes to the end of it's manufacturing life. So not allways the latest technology.

Not bad Richer Sounds in that respect. They had incorrrectly advertised a DVD on their website a few years ago. I printed it off and fair play to them they honoured the price. :y

Out of all the retailers we have dealt with over the years, Richer gets my vote every time.
A few years ago we bought a 37" LG from them, and didn't discover for a good 5 months that one of the HDMI inputs was defective (turned out it had been defective from new).
Richer had us ring LG direct, they had someone out the next day who eventually replaced the mainboard (after failing to fix the problem with a new firmware).
Next week the same problem was back......long story short.....
Richer gave us a full refund on the 37", allowed us to upgrade to a bigger set, and still knocked £40 off of a glass stand set for the TV & AV amp (got the stands for £90 instead of £130) to compensate for the inconvenience.
While they continue to trade in that vein, we will always be happy to give them our money.

Thumbs up to richersounds, all my cinema system came from them, including the Yamaha RDS cinema unit.
Every time I went back for a pair of speakers they also gave me as much 89 stand strand cable as I asked for for free. :y

That is what customer service is all about. They will get there rewards in the long run by retaining loyal clients that will return time and time again :y

Just remembered, they were also the ONLY retailer who were prepared to go to the effort of ordering in the subwoofers I wanted (not available in UK) from Canada.
Needless to say, they were the ones who took £1200 of my folding....and the subs were so well built they are still capable of bringing a house down (almost literally) practically 5 years down the line from purchase.

Richer Sounds - Great customer service but, often not Uk products and on some items (particularly audio), the uk items are quite different so check the mains plugs for snap on adaptors etc
-
I've had both good and bad dealing with Richer Sounds, so will neither recommend or slag them

Decided to go with a local dealer, good back up and after sales, I know the repair engineers (men) Decided on a 6 series samsung and a 22" LG TV for the kitchen.
Plenty of connectivy, so will do for a few years.
