Doesn't look good ... :(

Snow chains at the ready ???
-
Gritters in Bristol and South Gloucestershire are going mental tonight, so I'm thinking at least our council are on top of things. Lets just hope other council's are on the ball.
I personally havent had a problem thus far, but that could all change.
-
It can snow as much as it wants....I got my days off now!!!! ;D ;D ;D ::) 8-)
-
Metcheck say that my postcode's getting sleet & rain :'( :'( :'(

Have been using the above site as a guide and just put my area in it. Starting to look like snow for New Years Eve, which means I may be home alone. :( :-X
-
I am in the Valleys, and it does not look good for us either, and if last night was anything to go by (-5 ) Merthyr council did NOT have any gritters out
-
warning is for central England too, right across the area that had problems for me last time. I am not getting stuck for 6 hours again, booked myself into the Marriott at Heathrow for tommorow night.
-
I passed Debs earlier, and its fairly clear, just a bit on the hills. warnings seem to be further south
-
Swansea they say heavy rain on 1 site and heavy snow on another, ::) well start work at 7am so will see how the day goes

Couldn't care less what the weather is TBH.
I'm not lifting a finger until the 11th, and if the weather is still "bad" (that's pooftah PC bad, not my idea of bad) then I'll engage 4WD and go to work.
If it's that bad that even a normal (someone born before 1975) person considers the roads unpassable, then my arse stays at home until it's feasible to move.

But the other 98% of cars on the road in front of you without 4WD, won't be going anywhere, so neither will you. Then just need a couple of busses & trucks to get stuck, and gridlock.
The other trouble is 99% of idiots driving 4WD cars, don't realise their cars stop no better than a Ford Fiesta on ice

If I can find 7' in width, then I'm having that gap and don't care what the terrain is.....that's the point of 4WD.

I'm more than aware that 4WD is great on ice/snow for traction, and I am also fully aware that stopping distances are pretty close to terrifying in those conditions......but then we both know that is the sort of skill that sorts the experienced drivers from the f**kwits who have only held a license for 5 minutes.

Good luck finding that gap, when i got stuck on the M40, only the hard sholder was passable, of course like sheep once one went, so did the idiots. But Plod soon put a stop to that.
Hats off to the police driver, he was not sparing the horses in the slush, which must have been fun in a 3.2 FWD VeccyC :o
It was mainly trucks and busses causing the problems, t!t driving a National Express bus locked up and burried the nose of his bus in the round-about, caused grid lock >:(

Not a problem in Rotherham, as soon as the snow settles they pull the buses out of service to avoid the chance of an accident as they dont want to get sued.

Chicago (which knows how to deal with snow) had snow ploughs fitted to all big public service vehicles (busses/trucks/bin lorrys) - Keeps roads totally clear.
-
Whatever the weather people have warned of, it has inspired the people round here to completely clear the shelves of milk and bread, there isn't a single loaf left...
The day before, you couldn't give the stuff away
Panic? Surely not
-
I was a baker for 7 years and just a hint of snow would mean trebling the output.
Don't think I've ever seen someone as pleased to see snow as the bakery owner.
-
looks like the weather we've had in perth last 2 days - 10 to 12inches (i measured it cos everyone says they've had 6inches when they really mean 2, again, ooer ;D) but this was a shed load - closed the A9 south of Perth for most of yesterday and then again today and the wifes Legacy was worth its weight in gold - looks gorgeous i'll post pics :y
-
I am due to start a course next monday and was going to drive over the morning of..... I may have to rethink that.. :(

Yup, so much for that snow.... wonder if i will see any on my travels today
-
We have had snow here since about the 16th/17th or so. Main roads are clear but the assorted backroads have slush, now frozen solid. Once into the housing schemes its a bit of a gamble.
Go a few hundred feet higher and its still very white!
-
All quiet on the eastern front.
Quite windy, bit of drizzle, grey skies, above zero now, but there was a frost when I put the rubbish out last night - struggled to open the bin.
The wind was from the west, so when the cat came in, the cat flap didn't close properly behind her. When I went up to bed, I passed next door's cat coming down the stairs. Cheeky little s*d! :)
-
Just windy and miserable here. So glad we are going ice skating at Hyde Park later. :D

Minus 24c up here in Aviemore the other night! and 15" snow. Car has been stuck since before Christmas. I have ordered chains from EBay. Should have done it earlier! :( :(
-
Snow began falling mid-evening last night; just as I arrived home.....been 'falling' (a misnomer; as it`s actually blowing nearly horizontal) ever since....it`s -5C. (however, wind chill makes it much-much colder).....12" of snow is said to be expected here (at 1500 ft. AMSL) today.
What a harsh-Winter it`s been here in the mountains so-far :'(
