Title: It was going so well......
Post by: Gaffers on 31 December 2009, 13:30:56
On my way to the MOT center I decided the cats needed a blowout to dust off the cobwebs so decided to go the long way around.

As I turned to go past Tescos a lot of steam was coming out the back. I pulled over and the steam was so thick it was didfficult to see through.

I was gutted.

Worried I hadn't done the oil cooler job properly I filled her back up with coolant right to the brim only to find the level dropped only 2-3cm.  Not a good sign, that is approximately the level of the oil cooler.

limped her home watching the needle the whole way and got the plenum off and down to the V in record time.  the pipe from the coolant bridge to the HBV had sprung a considerable leak.  A quick trip to the local stealers confirmed they are useless so I went home and bodge repaired the original.  Thankfully the split was right by the end so I only had to take off 2cm off.

Got her back together and started her up.  She runs smoothly but I am worried there may be HG damage.

Sorry to hear about that, lets hope you did no damage to the HG. You made it sound like that you went especially to the stealers just to confirm that they are useless. PMSL ;D ;D

You stated that it all went wrong as you went pass Tescos. Wonder if you could claim against Tesco.  ;D

Never mind G, at least you salvaged something from what could have been a disaster.

Saturday, being another day, brings the prospect of renewed success. :y :y

The bonus is that it would appear the HG is in tact for now, the problem is crank sensor, phew :y
