I have driven over 1 million miles over 39 years, with many 'near misses' with other vehicles, often driving at high speed (mainly on motorways) and been stopped 9 times by the Police. Twice for a general check when I had an old car in my teens, speeding, and once crossing double white lines, but never actually received a ticket, summons, points on my licence, fine or anything else!
Four weeks before Christmas I was behind another motorist doing, wrongly, 40 in a 30 mph limit when we both spotted Police with a laser gun. Both of us braked.....I have heard nothing since.
On holiday in Florida I had no cents for a 75 cent toll coming away from our airport, and had to go through an unmanned booth lane without paying, setting off an alarm, although I offered a toll employee a $1 note which was refused, and offered to pay when I arrived at the next manned toll booth, to be told "don't worry about it"!! I did worry, expecting anytime to be 'pulled' by police, and even at the airport expecting an embarrassing situation (as I know about these things!!) But, no, nothing happened thank God!

Happened to me in Florida last year. Automated toll booth (coins in the bin type 50c) Chucked 4 quarters in, light still wouldn`t go green. Drove through & got flashed ::). 6 weeks later hire company (Dollar) had it away off my card details >:(

But I often think I must be stupid to risk driving over motorway and A road speed limits, but it is that 'kick' of thrill and pure enjoyment that I feel with high speed driving!! And yes, I broke a few limits in the States along with many American drivers!! Well even a 70 mph limit on a Toll road is too low!! :o :o ::) ::)
