That's what causes us the problems in our village, one road through and gets cut off either side because of the fields, at the moment we have not got the winds for the drifts, thankfully........... ;D ;D

We get ours tomorrow afternoon, it seems.  Still got the New Year's Eve downfall in the back garden.

We've only been in Suffolk for 15 years - hardly any snow to memtion in that time, so I've not seen drifts here.   :)

I remember in 1991 (when I was at school in Holbrook) jumping into drifts that were 6-7 feet deep :o :o ;D ;D

And we had an "East v's West" snowball fight... 680 odd boys in 2 teams pelting each other with snowballs!

Those were the days ::) ::) ::)

Ahh, yes. I remember it too. I was at the University of Essex. They had a huuuge tarmac car park that was empty because nobody else made it in. ... and I had a RWD car. ;D

I remember driving along a deserted A133 between Colchester and Elmstead market on sheet ice. Dead straight stretch of road and you could turn the steering wheel practically lock to lock while the car carried on straight as a die. I know cos I was young and stupid and tried it. ::)

Decided I'm gonna WFH today.  Apart from the landrover down the end of the close, nobody has ventured out in cars down my road today...

Fun? My MV6 is off the road, so it would be boring FWD for me :(

Besides, the annual Close snowball fight is bound to kick off around midday :P

Also, my dad, bless his cotton socks, always said if your car hasn't got the clearance to drive above the snow, its probably a journey too far.  The snow here is above sill line on both cars, which was the real decider for me...

And I wanted to pick up bits from dealer, fix the MV6, then go and borrow the rugby club carpark ::)

You bunch of pussies. I've just driven the wife to work, its only a 14 mile round trip and it took about an hour but I made it there and back without a problem. I couldn't be doing with her at home nagging all day ;D ;D

what you broke on that MV6 now? - Since your not working from home, fancy doing thermostat on the V6? I need to go out by the weekend, and i think i'll take the Estate....

Im glad Im off today as the sky is full of it and I'm fed up of driving in the stuff now. Its not so much the snow itself its a combination of the council who never seem to grit when and where they need to and those road users who either drive at 20 mph slower than they could or else 20mph higher than they should. Dont get me wrong, the snowfall here is nothing to what some of you are getting ,but I am not looking forward to driving to work tommorrow if it continues like this. :(

Some have tried to get out today (and failed miserably), but Biggy didn't have a problem at all.

The snowline is up to the car sills. Obviously less clearance on my car. I suspect once I've got off the estate roads, things would be easier, though I'd put a pound that the council haven't gritted the roads down the hill, which could make things 'interesting' ;D

110mm of snow here, with 340mm of clearance to the sills - and judging by the roads it would appear that Rushmoor Council don't know what a gritter is.

Just about to go to Novatech to swap out a duff monitor, reckon I'll take a tow strap or two and see if I can make tonights drinking money for pulling people out of ditches who thought their electronic driving aids would save them  ;D

Think they still do rallying there.  Lot of planes there now, including my window cleaner's.

Tell me about it - just been out helping a multitude of unsuitable cars and unsuitable drivers.  At least the snow has stopped again.

You should have been at Four Marks last night. Constant stream of 4x4s pulling cars up Soke Hill. It was total carnage.
