Blame Mrs. KW. Got home early yesterday evening after my MOT test (pass, and no air fresheners, before you ask!) and the house was toasty and warm, at 4 PM.
Investigated why central heating was on and couldn't figure it out. Turns out Mrs. KW had advanced it before leaving for work "in case the cat gets cold" >:(
FFS! That daft animal goes out whenever the weather is sh1te and only stays in when it's sunny. It deserves to get frozen solid whereby I'll deliver some more localised, and, hence, efficient heating courtesy of the microwave [smiley=evil.gif].

They told us things like that in the early 1970s when the coal miners were getting pissed off and halting supplies...............we then suffered rotational power cuts for set times for a few weeks!! 9 months later there was a baby boom! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I remember the power cuts .. living under candle light some nights ..

seriously all fossil fuels will be depleted one day and not too far from today..
nuclear seems to be the only cheap energy source as of today.. and my people still resisting on that subject and depending on Russian fart juice :-/

Yep, and that reminds me that I was in retail then and everywhere was selling out of candles, so our Regional Director decided to buy a huge shipment of them to gain an advantage. We received delivery to all our branches, only for the power cuts to cease.........took years and years to clear those candles!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

just bumped into my neighbour who works at Bacton, and ,as normal, its all exaggeration and media hype. Yes, demand for gas recently has been exceptionally high and ,yes, pressure has been low but it aint running out yet. Apparantly one of the problems was the supply from a pipe in Denmark where they'd had a suspected leak and so had to shut down for a while.
There'll be gas for a while yet. (You dont really think our military presence in Afghanistan is to do with democracy do you?)

Shame that they shut down the synthetic natural gas plants in Southampton and Portsmouth in the 80's. They were fun to work at and we used Naphtha as the fuel to convert to gas. Great in Zippo lighters as well. ;D ;D
