Title: so much for heated screen washers....
Post by: tunnie on 09 January 2010, 15:09:36
Frozen solid today, de-icer was no good. Thought i was the new halfrauds ready mix screen wash i put in had froze (they were out of pure)

Had to stop half way down to use de-icer on the screen as i could not see out, too mucky  :o

Couple of cup fulls of boiling water on the jets at the office soon cleared that though, jets working ok now. Lot people had the same issue, people pulling over to wash their screen  ;D

Thing is London usually has those pikey women who hang around at traffic lights, wash your screen and expect money. I would have actually used them today, but none of the buggers were around  ;D

My 2003 brochure states all models have 'Heated twin-jet windscreen washer nozzles'
I seem to remember yours is a 2000 'X' so not covered by this brochure. But I'd assume they'd all have it from inception of the facelift model.
I wonder if the heated part is activated by having the heated rear window on for instance? I can't imagine it'd be heated all the time?

Had no bad effects, they still work! Its just plastic after all, that said it was not boiling, it was from one of those office boiling tank thingys, but still damn hot.
