Had to go to work today, had to pick up laptop and dongle to work from home, took a while to dig the car out yesterday (though not as long as Debs!)
Time to get spade

Not sure how this worked, nothing was supporting it underneath

Need to dig that out before i could go anywhere

Most snow i have ever seen in Brackley
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/803897/Omega/Snow/DSC00438.JPG)
Underneath the snow was ice, left over screen wash from me fixing the jets ::)

Driveway cleared, i found a rake worked really well at getting most of it out of the way quicker thanks to its size, used spade on harder bits

Decided to go for a wonder after that with the hounds.....

:-* Lovely pics......a Winter wonderland indeed;`though the palm tree in the garden seems somehow uncomfortable under it`s unfamiliar crown of snow. ;)

I've got some pictures from my digging out... Over 3 hours of it :o :o
Gotta try and get to work in a few minutes, even though we won't be doing anything ::) >:(
Still... If I make it I can play some more cards ::) ::) :y :y

Not many good hills round here that you cna sledge but, the kids are quite happy being pulled round the streets on it.
Not many people have a sledge with old steam loco steam pipe as the runners......

Yeah ;D
I remember my mate's dad nearly killing us, towing us behind his car ::) (felt like he nearly did, but I suspect it was mostly safe-ish).
Another related story. I must have been around 20 at the time, an older mate welded up a sledge. Far larger than yours, designed so the 'gang' could all get on it at same time. We strapped it to roof of his estate and set off for the hills. We commented it was awfully heavy, but he said once on the icy snow, it would glide well. He was right. Too well. At the bottom of the grassy slope is a small ditch, then the woods start (for those near Aylesbury, Aston Viewpoint/Daniels Trudge). We cleared the ditch, the sled stoped really quick when it buried in a tree. 5 grown men in a heap crying. Still, we had plenty more goes ;D (only learned to turn it over before it got to bottom)

I should add, that although it was on a public highway, it was on a small estate road, and roads were never busy back then, particularly in that weather. Still probably daft though, but we enjoyed it.
That article - what the hell was he smoking :o
-
Suicidal on main roads :o - What a plonker
Can't see a problem on small estate roads, problem comes if you have to stop suddenly, kid on the sledge can't

Aye - I learned not to try to cop off with other blokes' girlfriends that way
(or more accurately, check they were not around first!)

As safe as this guy thought it was, all it would have taken was for someone to come sliding out of a side road at the wrong time......missing Dad in his nice safe 4x4.......and flattening the poor lad on the sledge behind.....
And appalling that the Dad tried to half blame it on the kid for asking him to do it.......

I guess on the flip side, the lad has inheritted his dad's genes, and that can't be good for society... ...so maybe a shame thats didn't happen...

His buisness took a turn for the worst after this little event
