The tractor units only (bob tail) will actually drift pretty well....i imagine... in case my gaffer's watching!!!! ::)

They also slide well when the rear axles tyres are near the wear limit in the dry (without a trailer attached of course).....apparantley

I remember going to see the truck racing at Donnington around twenty years ago. There was lots of drifting around the corners. They carried a few hundred gallons of water to spray on the brakes to keep them cool.

A huge amount of weight over the front axel compared with the back so pretty easy to right if the rear decides to go walkabout.

They still do use water to cool the brakes in truck racing and they have a limited top speed(but it is a higher limit than road units) and yes they will drift due to next to no weight over the rear wheels.The top racing trucks have about 1000 bhp at their disposal (stuart oliver being a prime example)

Dont see much truck racing on tV these days, used to love watching it.

Motors tv and sometimes eurosport put it on,but as you say not often enough

I know a lot dont like it and it isnt the same kind of thing as racing, but I used to like the tractor pull events, not seem them on TV for years either.

Motors Tv also covers tractor pulling and before anyone asks no I don't work for a cable company or tv listing company but I do have an HGV licence to abuse tractor units with ha ha :)
