Booked my appointment online a week ago.
Have changed the blowing left bank manifold gasket and sorted a few other things out like fungus in the washer pipes. Checked all lights are working. I even saw the headlight washers shoot out and work (had the car 10 years and never seen that!)
BUT, we have had a heavy fall of snow this p.m. loads of tractors have been up and down and flattened it and now it is freezing. Should be a good start driving uphill and negotiating a tight hairpin to boot. We have had 17 inches of rain in the last 18 days, Thank god that didn't fall as snow.
We will see what the day brings.

It is no use worrying until it happens.
Once it has happened, it's no use worrying.
Dont worry. :y

Hurrah. Got out of the village and the car passed.
I noticed although the front foot brakes were very even on the brake test the rears were half a unit difference. There was a very slight inbalance on the hand brake in the same way. That I can adjust out. I think I will have the wheels off and press the calipers back in. Pads and rear brake discs and handbrake shoes were new only 4 months ago.
Well pleased. Mrs varche has been to the wine cellar and returned with a Rioja Crianza 2001 to celebrate.

Ah the trick is to get the 2.45 p.m appointment. then they are in too much of a hurry to get finished so they can knock off for their siesta. They were cursing as none of them knew how to calculate Km from miles for the MOT certificate( I did it for them last year and the year before). Actually he did comment that the exhaust was a "bit noisy". What do you expect living in the country with a car with 2mm of ground clearance quoth I.
