Most of thier cars are RWD.

I think it's only the A series things that might be FWD as well as the Smart cars.

Might be wrong, usually am.

C Class are RWD, C200 kompressor are a bit underpowered, kompressor means supercharged, but it;s no dragster, if you get low mileage with service history, they're alright.

depends on what you compare with..

on rolling start, say 40-50 mph was obviously faster than my miggy (I hope was not tuned) because of supercharger-compressor.. >:( and although I didnt test ,sure will be better then mine for  green lights.. :-/

158bhp in a car smaller than an Omega so not that sluggish, although not going to worry a veyron either. ;)
If you go to buy one which is a few years old check thouroughly for rust,Merc had serious issues with rust in their cars not long ago. :y

I used to have a SLK200, ok power wise for me  :y
If you get one, try to get one with an autobox and leather seats, they hold their resale value better.
Also try to make sure its a UK car, theres a lot of imports knocking about and not worth as much as a UK car.
As said previous, do check for rust, mine was in twice under warranty for the A pillars going rusty.  :y

Mercedes quality went very much downhill when they hooked up with Chrysler - I think they've been divorced a couple of years now, but struggling to regain the quality they were once renowned for.
Good looking if underpowered car, the C200 but a nice car to be stuck in a traffic jam in.

I manage a property for a UK client over here . Last autumn he replaced a 2001 CLK , that was kept for his use when here ,with a new UK reg.CLK version ,so banal I couldn't tell you what one....
Anyway, the old CLK had been his since new and was literally rotten. The rear NS wheel arch return lip was non existant at the top three inches and the OS crumbling at the rear where it met the bumper. Other areas were severely scabbing paint around door and boot lock ,leading edge of roof and serious early rust along door bottoms .
I was quite shocked at the state of the car which had only done circa 72K miles .
It was the 3.2 version and went very well but was disolving around the mechanics.
Also beware Valeo radiator............... :'(

Yeh, and the autboxes rarely get past 60-70k miles before they start rough shifting and needing a full re-build.

They also have alot of electrical gremlins

Don't buy one, gearboxes suffer from water in the gearbox, thousands of electrical problems. Avoid.
