Seen them in pubs and shops etc.
Does Windows XP, Vista or 7 support them.
Are there any advantages to using them.
TIA. :y

looks like arm ache to me... :-/
-
Windows 7 supports touch screens.

:y Aye, not overly sold on the idea myself either.

its the thought of finger prints all over your screen
-
I'm sure once the novelty value wore off, you wouldn't tend to use them much. Maybe to impress friends etc. :-/

;D
agreed.. everyday you need to clean .. :-/

I've used one just to try them out in a shop with Windows 7 on it .. and i found that i had to touch down on the icon or path hard to get it to work and do something .. i think there just a quick money making thing .. just a fad !
I would never get one .. good old fashion mouse will do for me .

Just seen these
3D monitors, are they a bit gimmiky, or do they work.
-
My wife uses touch screen technology (in her mind) as when pointing things out she presses the screen as though it is going to obey her. It is her age I think.
Fingerprints all over the screen.

Didnt think this was too much for the brand and size of screen.

that looks a good deal, may look into that. :y :y

With the right drivers any OS can support touch screens.
-
Considering the usual position that a monitor occupies would it not be a tad inconvenient to have to reach out to touch the screen every time you needed to change something on it? :-/ :-/
-
Cant see why you'd want one tbh, smears all over the screen etc. If youve ever had to "sign" for a delivery on one of those hand held gadgets that couriers use now one look at the state of them would put you off. The better half couldnt get on with her touchscreen phone either.

Something I have been looking into recently ::) - in fact I was gonna put up a post if anyone knew of a good supplier.
Virtually all work as a virtual mouse, so as long as you can get a driver for your OS for the touchscreen, it 'works'. Usually, its just a 'click', so no dragging etc, though Windows 7 does have more of this touch functionality built in.

Thats a shame, this was the sort of info I hoped would get posted.
I took it as the title says as a "touch" screen so my theory seems right .
As a long shot I was hoping it could be used like the screens in the New Knight Rider HQ, at best something like drag and drop might of been nice. So looks likes the best app would be a big touch screen calculator.

not seen that tv prog, they started that shite up again? aint The Hoff a bit old for tight jeans and leather jackets?
I believe win7 offers some level of touch you are after, but I've not tried currently

The Hoff appeared once and that was it.
Shows different as to be expected, load of hi-tech, but the car can transform now......whoopee do. :-/

Sounds even more shite than the original

though Windows 7 does have more of this touch functionality built in.
It's the closest OS that comes with it built in, although touchscreen will work with any OS with the right drivers/software (I've seen it working on NT4 in our local).
