My parents didn't let me watch it as a kid (too much guns, boobs & violence). They thought i would be a bad influence on me.
That's all i'm interested in nowadays ::) So much for parental control ;D

Love to watch it when i can :y :y :y

I worked with a guy who always had this gentle piece of news for some poor unfortunate;

" You, my son are nicked"

or liked to announce;

"We're the  :-X and we've come to spin your drum"

Happy days 8-) 8-) :y

The Life on Mars series, if you ignore the bouncing around in time bit, was a fair representation what my early career colleagues were like!   ;D

Although I didn't watch it B I can concur insofar as the Sweeny portrayal of how detective officers in certain larger squad units behaved.

Jacks (detective officers) were hard men then - very, very few women were involved then other than in collating duties.

A poignant reminder of how many of us kicked our respective careers off in P/C’s.

I guess it's a shame that the human rights brigade came along for them then, especially as they only have a problem when it's the filth dishing out the slaps  ;D ;D

The original one was a MK1 Ford Consul GT, subsequently replaced in later episodes with a MK1 Granny (Ghia).
