Title: Common Courtesy
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 25 January 2010, 10:53:03
Seems there a few people who like to mess people about >:(

Someone on the forum phoned me a couple of weeks back asking me all about a car I have that would have been for sale soon, I told him about all the work that had being done by myself, sent photo's etc. He asked me to get a car ready for them to pick up on the 25 January.
I have sent two PM's just to keep this person informed on the progress of the car.. MOT passed, Full Valet now done etc... I know they have opened the PM's and yet never had any reply.
I then sent another PM to make sure The Person wanted the car, again opened the PM but has not had the Common Courtesy to to reply.

Ah well

Sadly happens a lot.

I don't buy many cars but the number of times people have thanked me for turning up to view is amazing.  It seems it's normal to book a viewing and not show.

Tell David Cameron.  He seems to be realizing that our society is getting more selfish and inconsiderate by the minute.  I'm not sure he can/will do anything significant about it though. :(

It is not the fact that he obviously doesn't want the car now thats annoying, but the fact that he could have rung or PM'd to let me know.
We live and learn :)

Its bad enough when Ebayers do it, but one forum member doing it to another really is bad form. :(

I'm grieved to hear that D.  As Chris has so rightly said selfishness and inconsideration seem to be the rule rather than the exception today.

Sad times.  Here's a few  :-* :-* :-* :-* to cheer you up :y

I'm sorry to hear this Daz, I've been moaning to my missus a lot about how people only think about no. 1 these days and the 'everybody can go to Hell as long as I'm ok' attitude you see everywhere

Lots of everyday things that people do seem to irritate the hell out of me at the moment, I'm like Victor Meldrew a lot  ;D

As you say Daz- a phone call is the very least that the member can do.

I had the very same on another car forum last September from a member.

I did as you have & posted up in General Chat, they even made a public apology, but still they didn't keep their end of the deal.

Dissapointing on the communications side.  But look at the postive, at t least the car is now ready for sale and might just be what some one is looking for.

How do you know when PM's have been opened?

I was thinking the same thing, as for the person who has let Daz down, I know he was online at 0147 today.

In the PM sent box the envelope icon will change from a closed envelope to an opened one.

And Daz, I must agree, some people do have a lack of courtesy. Fortunately I've never experienced that on here...which I suppose would make it worse.
A simple, ''I'm sorry Daz, I'm not interested in the car anymore because XYZ, thanks for your time''.
That would have done...not the best response ever but it's better than nothing.
And regarding people coming to view vehicles for sale, I find only 50% ever turn up. Before an arranged viewing and test drive, I will make sure the vehicle is clean and has at least 1/4 tank of fuel. It takes around 45 minutes to prepare an already clean car before someone comes to view it. They don't seem to realise it takes time and effort, and can't even be bothered to give you a courtesy call.
But, that's how it is...and there's always good people around too  :y

I would love to name and shame as you put it, but The Dark One would never forgive me.
We never know, he may have been and collected said car now, as his GIRO was late arriving.

I saw the 'PHANTOM BUYER' online again tonight. I don't think they realise we know when they are online.
He did not reply to my pm, so either he does not know how to, but I am almost positive that he wrote a thankyou pm to me when he agreed to purchase the car, or he does not know we know when he has opened a PM.
Oh well, never mind, I am sure car be gone by weekend.
