Title: Just a £60 fine !?!
Post by: Turk on 28 January 2010, 02:52:55
He should count himself lucky. For that display of recklessness that driver should be shot, hung, drawn and quartered, burnt at the stake, put to the chair, banned from driving forever...

Some officers are a total waste of tax payers money  >:(

What's next- scratching, chewing gum. FFS. Some folk need to lighten up some.
If their going that far, then smoking should be classed as exactly the same.

I can't get my head around how you could smoke, but not eat :-/ :-/

Yeah-getting fined for blowing your nose drinking water is stupid compared to no offence for:
Finding a fag, finding a lighter, co-ordinating lighter to face, putting lighter away while holding fag in other hand, holding a burning item which if dropped would light the carpet or seat, either finding the ashtray or flicking ash and butts out of the window into live traffic, plus the altered state of mind from the effect of the fag.

Yes, I was a smoker  ;)
I was also a biker and had fag-ends hit me  >:(

Don't get me started about smoking with kids in the car-surely with the nanny state that should have been first to go-before smoking in pubs was banned  :o

in the 70's I hitched a lift with two guys in a Ford Zephyr. The driver threw his lit cigarette butt out of the window. It came back in and landed on his crotch area. In his attempt to find it he lost control of the car after doing some giant "slalomming" . We shot up the embankment of the A1 and through a hedge into a field.

they got out and sauntered down to the dual carriageway leaving the doors open and stuff lying around. I gathered up my kit and followed them just to see them get into a lorry.

the driver said "Who is he?". Just a hitchiker! so off they went.

then I realised that they had obviously nicked the car. I legged it as fast as I could.

I'm gratified to see that the officers concerned acted swiftly and decisively to ensure that this blatant display of recklessness was dealt with in these terms.

I'm even more impressed by the fact that these officers displayed little regard for their own safety and emotional wellbeing when doing so.

I had correspondence quite recently with Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary regarding incidents such as this and suggested to him that the drivers of vehicles noted for such acts (with a view to prosecution), should have their vehicles immediately impounded.

I'm pleased to report to the membership here that my proposal is being actively considered.

A good result all round I feel.

You missed a bit Zulu,

"I noticed four police officers, but I didn't think anything of it. Then one of them waved me over.

I reckon he only came accross to book as he knew he had 3 colleagues to back him for the guy resisting arrest, cant find a mention of a squad of traffic cars and the police chopper ready to follow in pursuit. :-/

Well being a driver of sorts one of the main cause of death on the road is tierdnes, but if enyof you have ever sneased while driving well that can be a dangeras situation espeshaly as the snot leaves your nostreals at 100mph, now in my opinion the driver in question on this ocasion was doing other moterists a faver and removing whatever was up his nose befor it made him sneez and yes posably become the danger on the road/ Prehaps im just babaling  $h!t. The one thing i know is if the car is parked then whots the problem evan at the read light. (just wait till an officer of the law needs to wipe his nose while in a chase / will he pull over and act responsably wel i hope so if this man has to pay the fine. To all the metrapolitan members please try and act responsable with oure monney as i feel that a lot of my tax is getting wasted here as well as in the hands of parlemant.

Thank you for pointing that out Mr S.

I was also assured by HM Chief Inspector during our correspondence that the days of running a costly rotary-wing response unit and being obliged to have a sizeable inventory of traffic vehicles used solely for the purpose of nabbing such motorists - should they try and escape from lawful custody - will be well and truly numbered when the squadron of Drone observation aircraft is constituted and ready for service on a nationwide basis.

The trial for this gold-standard advance in policing the troublesome motorist begins in Scotland - where this disgraceful act occurred.

As much as I am a critical friend of the police, which the Cheif Constable of Kent, Michael Fuller has told me he appreciates, this incident does no good at all for the reputation of the service.  I am amazed that this has managed to arrive at the stage of going to court, and just wonder what information has been disclosed on the summons!

If this does actually go to court it will be very interesting to see what is made of it by the magistrate.

This is policing gone mad!! >:( >:( >:(

Just spotted the offence, the police called him over half way through blowing his nose, so being a good citizem he did so whilst tissue was still in his hand, hence not being in full controll of his vehicle,  problem solved.  :y :y

The arresting officer should have all the costs to the public purse wasted in the processing of the case deducted from his salary imo.
This reminded me of an even more ludicrous case last year, also in Scotland , of an old fella who was walking out of a shop and dropped a tenner on the ground. Two policemen who were stood nearby called him back, told him to pick it up, and then issued him with a fine for littering. :o >:(

Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.

The guy was only doing what the government told him to do.  Yet another Brown failure. :)

A chat with a senior officer where he has it explained to him in unequivocal terms that he is" not suitable material" is long overdue methinks. ;) ::)

Did they confiscate his hanky with contents as evidence? The car was stationary, in neutral with the brake on.Obviously , he should have sneezed whilst driving and covered the inside of the windshield in snot, had his vision impared and crashed into the four officers who were standing around idley waiting for something to happen so they could meet the days quota....

What was the comedy sketch show where Rowan Atkinson played a copper who had arrested someone for wearing a loud shirt during the hours of darkness?

Hi everyone, just read in the Daily Mail that this copper had previously issued a guy a fine for littering,he had dropped a £10 note.
He,s not doing a lot of good for the image of the police in his area.
