Title: Whos waiting for their tax return to be done!
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 31 January 2010, 21:43:23
Well me for a start  ;D
Same as every year  ;D
Usually my accountant emails it to about this time of night on the last day.....for me to print it out and get it delivered before 7.30am tomorrow morning (yes they do except them after midnight, without penalty)

Nothing like leaving it to the last minute  ;D

Depends on your tax office & whether you pay tax at 40%. I used to get a tax form from my local office even though we were PAYE but usually hit the 40% bracket. Birmingham (Cadbury's tax office) didn't want to know about sending out forms for the same wage - it was short lived anyway because Cadbury made me redendant!  >:(

Indeed. :y

Be very careful if you're near or over the 40% bracket and have any other income bar PAYE. If this income is over the 40% bracket or takes you over it you are liable for the difference since it will have been taxed at the standard rate.

It's not a case of "having to do one". You need to be on top of it and declare any income that's not correctly taxed at which point you might be asked to do a tax return.

Remember any savings interest and share dividends, expenses if over the threshold amounts, etc. may not have been correctly taxed if you're into the 40% bracket. On the other hand, you might have tax you can claim back against expenses and pension contributions, etc.

It's wise to be on top of these things because ifwhen the revenue catch up they will dump you into a world of stress until it's resolved.

Used to do mine online but don't have to do one anymore... Don't earn enough from my current job to justify doing one and don't do any other work anymore :y :y

Mind you... If I decide to start doing LPG conversions/repairs on my rest days it all starts again ::) ::)
