Title: Insurance quotes
Post by: Arrolman on 01 February 2010, 21:05:46
Looking for insurance quotes tonight for 3.2 Omega, rough price of around £660 Fully comp, my 2.6 was £800 :o. Also looking at new quote for my Discovery, 2.5 Tdi with some slight mods, nothing performance related, £600 Fully comp. How do they work it out?? Bit annoyed that I will have to pay the same for two completely different cars with huge difference in power :(

How they work out insurance has always been a mystery to me too.
You can't even ask, because no one seems to know :-?

No one works anything out. Someone writes a program and the computer spews out a quote.

I pay £6071 for my trade insurance, and it's only third party  :D
But that's life!

;D indeed, but it enables me to drive any vehicle with any sized engine and being 20 doesn't help much either.

No true, heard people paying 3k for a year on a 1.4 Saxo. So its not too bad in that respect  :)

And I used to grumble at my £70/month Fully Comp Trade policy... Worked well for me though... Van, 2 cars and a motorbike, all fully comp with any other vehicle I wanted to drive FC too :y :y :y

I was actually better insured on SWMBO company car at the time as they only had TPF&T insurance ::) ::)

As an aside Josh... Try Footman James. They were by far the most competitive a few years back :y :y

£6071 :o, ouch. Thats a few cars to shift to pay that off :D. Whatever happened to Norwich unioun introducing pay per mile? Black GPS box that tracked location and you only payed for the miles you drove? Did it ever happen? Worth a punt? Omega would be my daily drive, Discovery is for playing/towing trailers and odd off-road day

Cheers,
Iain

Hi,

Its currently on SORN awaiting MOT, just waiting for someone to buy my 90 on Ebay within the hour ::). Whens its on the road, every other week heading into summer, I do a lot of gardening work so require it for my trailer and odd occasions of tree/hedge removal. Thing is, the days vary depending on how many jobs I have on, so might have to use it same day as Omega, sometimes not for a week or so :-/. Bit awkward, might try some specialist brokers to see if they can offer anything
