Title: A Little political Joke
Post by: Lazydocker on 31 January 2010, 22:13:33
'I asked my friend's little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.
She said she wanted to be Prime Minister some day.

Both her parents, Labour supporters, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were Prime Minister what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed, and said, "Welcome to the Labour Party!"

"Wow...what a worthy goal!" I told her. I continued, "But you don't have to wait until you're Prime Minister to do that. You can come over to my house, mow the lawn, pull weeds, sweep my drive and I'll pay you £25.
Then I'll take you over to the supermarket where the homeless guy hangs out. You can give him the £25 to use toward food."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work and you can just pay him the £25?"

I smiled and said, "Welcome to the Conservative Party."

Clever.  :y

Though, with DC at the helm, she'd more likely have to service the wind turbine for £25.  ;)

The point is, the socialists will simply give him money which they have taken from people who have already worked for it,whereas the (old style) Conservatives would give him the opportunity to work and earn money to better himself, thus allowing the possibility for removing less of the income from people who work for a living. This would also present the homeless person with the possibility of building some self esteem and pride in themselves by having achieved some advancement in their life by the fruit of their own labour. ;)

this is a lovely little tale from englandshire, but the old tories i knew used to take away the right to work for many by decimating heavy industry - so it's the ex-miner or ex-steelworker who's forced into menial labour and is to be grateful for the oppurtunity then?.........aah - got you now  :y

I wouldnt completely disagree with you about the effects of Thatcherism on British industry Banjax, I remember it well, I was a young left wing TGWU shop steward at the time. I dont believe that she could ever have gotten away with what she did though if it werent for the fact that the Union leaders handed her the golden opportunity on a plate.
They were far more interested in persuing the overthrowing of Capitalism than they were in the interests of the members who were paying for their large salaries, chauffer driven Jags and big houses in the countryside.
They gave her a big stick and she beat them with it, and they along with the spineless managers who let them run amok through every major industry in the country should shoulder a large chunk of blame for the decline in what was once the greatest manufacturing industry in the world.
None of this detracts from any points made in my previous posts though. ;)
