I have been contracting for a while, over 12 years, but things have been a bit tough recently. My last contract was in Belfast, did it fine, no problems, did some good stuff, but finding another contract.........
I have been looking since may 2009, lots of jobs on the usual sites that I am more than experienced/ qualified to do, you send off the CV and hear nothing. Even got ripped off by some to**er who hooked me via an agency offering a free CV evaluation service, and for only £50 would make it look wonderful. Like hell, I paid up and heard nothing.
Perhaps the problem was my CV was totally accurate, no fibs, I perhaps understated myself. This time I was a bit more aggressive in the letter and CV, not telling fibs, but ..... and I got an interview tomorrow, at 10:30am. The salary is good, not as much potentially as contracting, but its a regular wage packet which will be a welcome return.
Wish me luck,
Ken

its an employers market at the moment, plenty of desperate people will take under the going rate.

Good luck Ken :y
Not sure exactly what work your in but for IT roles, i find jobserve excellent, its not like all the heavily advertised crappy sites like monster which take about 3 days to register, then have shite jobs listed.
Jobserve, you see a job, just attach a CV and covering letter, bam, job done. Its worth just spamming all the jobs even close to yours, i never thought in a million years i would get the job i have now, as it listed loads of skills i don't have, but my background in mobile got me the job out of about 15 applicants 8-)
CV wise, keep it short, never more than 2 pages! People looking to hire, don't want to read an essay of 6 pages to get your stats, keep it short and sweet :y
