I've just finished using AVG after around three years of problem free surfing.
Go onto Computeractive's website for a free download :y

Cheers for that. I was just a bit cautious with them being free on how good they where. When you consider how much Norton charge & such like.

I find Avast less cpu/memory intensive than AVG but whatever you use both do the job, there is a few threads on here about what is better to use.
I would also suggest spybot S&D as well for removal of spyware and a good anti phishing piece of software is rapport from trustee :y

I find Avast really slows my PC down personally, but saying that, it takes almost half an hour from initial switch on to being able to use it anyway so not sure Avast can be the only thing to blame for that.

Wish i knew what was wrong with it, its not even like the memory is more than half full (I have 2x80gb ext hard drives for the music and pictures) but i am continually getting 'windows virtual memory too low' coming up.

Tbh its got to the point that noone uses it any more and we all use the laptop.

I've got Avast after using AVG for many years. It's the best move I've ever made for it's rapid response to potential problems, plus Avast doesn't slow the machine down (unlike AVG). Because Avast doesn't come with a firewall, download the trial version of Comodo Antivirus, but only install the firewall which is also proven good and free and non-trial.
