I'm guessing suspect head gasket, when more likely the water pump has fallen to bits :)

Has it got leather?

You're too young to work on it! I want someone older!

;D

Seriously, until I can work out what the issues are, I am just 'tinkering'.  Doubt I'll be doing anything too major this weekend to it, but any opinions welcomed.

Don't forget I have posession of your Timing kit, Mr Admin ;D

If it's the car I'm thinking of.. my opinion is definately water pump

I've never done a pump on a TD, but how hard can it be.... lets have a look, and if it's looking like the pump... get it apart !

I'm free on  Tuesday I think, I was going to be putting the V6 together, but I'm happy to come and do something a bit different ..

Not waterpump. Old one is sat in AA's dustbin. It was fine.

And how hard is a waterpump on a BMW tractor engine? I PITA if you can't get the stupid bloody fan off  >:(

And the belt tensioner is a right PITA without the right tool  >:(

Fin, why so keen on the TD mate? Just out of interest... I would have thought the 3.0 is a lot more refined? :)

We gave the rad a good flush with a hose for about half an hour, loads of gunge came out.

Fitted the new water pump (didn't seem anything wrong with the old one).

Oil is in a filthy state, will need several changes to get it right.

But it got TB back to Brackley OK, which was the main thing.

The adjustable wrench was needed to remove the viscous fan, I didn't have a spanner big enough.

Looks a reasonable motor for the price.

Yeah, fan has left thread.  But try as we did, we couldn't undo.  It ket slipping on the belt.  We tried to wedge screwdrivers etc to stop pulley turning to no avail.

Went in for tea and sarnie, can out again, and it unscrewed by hand....

Sounds like a blocked coolant system to me....lots of flushing....need the rad removed to do it realy well and even then you might not clear it all out...change the stat to for good measure...

I suspect the heater matrix is blocked to or the vac system has problems...
