Title: Where does the ££££ go?
Post by: alunonhisown on 10 February 2010, 15:02:59
As I have been told on here often enough, it takes 4 -6 days to be credited to my account (the money was SUPPOSEDLY deposited into my account today in Orlando) where does it go for the next 4 days? Surely it only takes seconds to be put into account? I dunno, all beyond me!!!!

It goes into the banks intermidiate account earning them interest, if you think of all the millions held for 4 -6 days how much they actually make off it.

Years ago when we used to pay staff by BACS for the money to hit their account on a friday it left ours on a tuesday >:( (earning the bank a few days interest).

But now most UK banks have signed up to RBS it leaves our account at 12 noon friiday and hits the staffs account within a few minutes.  :)

if it has been sent by wire (automatic transfer) it should be in your account instantly

Unlikely.  It's foreign currency.  This gives the UK bank an opportunity to spirit it off to their own vault for a couple of days before subtracting a commission fee. and passing it on to you. :(

When i worked for London Sottish Finance all automatic transfers were instant, no matter what the currancy or where in the world it came from, that was 2 years ago so maybe they have changed the rules but i doubt it.

I like fletchersmrs idea, but I think jeroboam is my likely bet.

This is the e-mail what I just received of accountant.

Hi Diane,
The transfer has been done.  The bank told her that it could take up to a week to hit your account but if I were you, I would start checking on Monday.
After taking out the remainder of our fees, it left $16,045.00.  The transfer cost $45.00 so you will be receiving $16,000.00.
Regards,
Nancy
