No, that's not me proposing it, but some MPs (mostly Labour) proposed it a couple of months ago.  >:( >:(

Just noticed this in the EDM:

I remember the National 50mpg speed limit, late 70's ish.  Due to fuel shortages I think.... :-/

During the fuel blockades in 2001 or thereabouts, I drove my 2.0L manual Mig at 50mph max on my commute and got the mileage up to high 30's in my Citroen I can get at least an extra 10mpg and I do not drive it enthusiastically anyway, according to Kwickfit, re a rear tyre change.... ::) ::) ::)
