Title: Windows Firewall
Post by: waspy on 15 February 2010, 09:43:48
I've just noticed it's been turned off again. I've turned it back on as i have done a  few times before. How does this happen & why :-?

If it's the only firewall you're using, it should always be on. However, I use zone alarm and windows recognises this is a superior firewall and allows it to switch it off.

Pete - If I am right you are the person who installed Kaspersky for free from Barclays after my post in the Anti-Virus thread? If so Kaspersky comes with a firewall so windows one can be turned off! :y

SHame the firewalls built into routers are mostly so rubbish.  No software firewall running under an OS being used by users who insist on running as admin will ever, EVER be in any way secure.

my windows firewall does this too, but only sometimes so I'm a bit baffled by it too. :-/ I also have spyware doctor and spyware detector that run well together. Maybe these have something to do with it as Ive had firewalls and anti-spy programmes in the past that were mutually exclusive?

Yes i am & thank you :y

That'll be the reason it's been turned off. Should i switch it off or would it be ok to run them together?

Because they dont work well together, which is why windoze allows it to be switched off.

Just do it and stop asking stupid questions, dickbrain. ;D ;D
