Maybe what is needed is an additional class of travel. For example 3rd class (open carriages) that would provide a totally different outlook.

Noisy customers could travel second class (for a discount of course)

people wanting to work, not have mobiles on, music etc could travel 1st class. MP's of course would just have a free travel warrant and naturally would travel 1st class as they are such important dudes.

I also believe the tory party is doing everything in it's power to not get elected, this has to be very worrying as to what is coming after May. Are we looking at massive tax rises, are we going to be like Greece and Portugal etc.

Even if the tories get in, you're just replacing one bunch of clowns with another bunch of clowns, what's the point  ::)

Fortunately, the prat is not standing at the election - I expect that's why he thinks it's OK to shoot his mouth off.

Yes there is still the matter of the £178 billion shortfall for someone to make up. Could well be a lot more if the markets (bloodsuckers) lose their nerve over the UK's ability to pay.

The government has had to borrow £4.3billion for the month of January. This hasn't happened since records began in 1993 (?????? Didn't we know prior to then?).
Apparently, the gov gets a lot of tax receipts in Jan and usually pays down it's debt. Not this year chaps.

Frankly, I agree completely with what he was trying to say.

But since he appears to have the diplomatic skills of a charging rhinoceros, combined with the type of public school arrogance that should have gone out in the 1950s, the Conservative party needs to put a bag over his head and shove him in the cupboard under the stairs until after the election.

Never, in the field of human endeavour, has there been such a concerted attempt by a political party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as that being mounted by the Conservative Party's pre-election campaigning.

If we're not careful, we're going to get Gordon back again.   :'( :'( :'(

Precisely. They think they are a cut above the man on the street anyway. Why else would they deserve free second homes, shopping sprees at John Lewis, not to even bother turning up to work half the time, etc?  >:(

What a pompous pr!ck!

WRT the forces only Brigadiers and above get 1st Class and to get to that rank at least 18 years service is given as an officer first.  He needs to step back into reality and do what the rest of us do and buy himself some earplugs, dont forget he could prob justify those on his expenses.....  ::) ::)

I just can not see what the man is guilty of,i thought the radio presenter was a pri*ck and only trying to score brownie points from his listeners and was desperately trying to wrong foot the man to get him to say what he wanted to hear.Next there will be a witch hunt because the man pronounces the Queens english correctly.
Not use first class, bloody hell and i suppose you will be expecting him to saddle his own horse as well!

We would all travel first class if someone else was paying. He is guilty of not realising he is serving us. Not being on a gravy train to further his comfort and bank balance.

i agree that Stephen Nolan did hound him when he sniffed a story - but he realised that Sir Winterton saw nothing wrong in what he was saying and just handed him a shovel - thats all - made for excellent radio  :y
