Title: Ripping video off youtube
Post by: Gaffers on 22 February 2010, 09:25:46
I have a presentation to do and need to acquire some video off youtube.  I have used various programs in the past but they download in flv.  I need it to be in a generic format that can be read on any computer such as mpeg.

There are so many options out there and I have already tried a couple without sucess so I thought I would ask you guys for your advice and experiences.

TIA :y

P.S. This is legal acquisition and does not breach copyright in any way  :y

See if you can find a good .flv to .mpg file convertor, then if you do let me know what it is as I could do with it as well.  ::)

Or Realplayer.  The file manager/library part has a converter.  Only tried it once - seemed a bit slow, but result was good.

Ok the download for this keeps failing, gives a download error.  Prob cause I am in a location with a very unreliable internet connection...

So anyone know any software that will do the job (freeware)  ???

Edit:  Dont worry, it just installed :y

I've used this quite a few times
http://www.alivemedia.net/youtube-video-converter.htm
Quality isn't up to HD but I'm assuming it's due to the original stream being less than perfect.

Ive used this in the past

You just need a converter to put it into any other file after you have downloaded it
