Title: Browser Choice
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 26 February 2010, 10:28:19
Shut the PC down last night, 2 small windows updates were installed.

Today I boot my PC to the following messgae.

An important choice to make: your browser
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your browser is an important piece of software on your computer. It is what you use to surf the internet: it’s the window around the web sites you visit.

There are many browsers available, each with a variety of features. On the next screen, you can select and install any additional browser(s) you want.? and MS.

So it's now obvious it's not an MS thing as they would be 1st inline.

Why are they allowed to do these things to our PC's, Yes I know I could have cancelled it, but it shouldny have been there at boot up in the 1st place.  >:(

Please Note: The Browser Choice update unpinned your browser, Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer, from your taskbar, but you can pin it back if you want. Click here to learn more.

Internet Explorer is still available from the Start/All Programs menu.

Before proceeding, please confirm that you are connected to the internet.

Just for the hell of itI clicked ok and now have a new icon on the desktop.

5 browsers to choose from, Safari, Firefox, Opera,

Half of my 1st post didnt make it to the post.

Why are they allowed to add these things, yes I know I had the chance to cancel it, but wasnt sure it was an MS thing, obviously it wasnt as MS was last in the list.  >:(

Thought that may be the case, it was an argument years ago with IE versus Netscape.

Yes it's nice to have a choice, but FFS, it's part of the whole windows exsperiance. They give an operating system that allows youe to write, play music, paint, network, oh,an go on the internet.

If they want a different browser then let the people using it decide.  Without forcing an install option inour faces, and also wonder what they are doing with that software.

Yeah, thats MS.

It would appear in Euro zone that a company is not allowed to release the products they want.

Is it a pucker copy of windows?  Thought MS pulled the plug on the Win7(E) versions, stuck 2 fingers up to Brussels, and said we're gonna release the Worldwide Win7 in Europe ?

And good on them - they should be allowed to release what they like.

Silly tit, of course I have - the 2 tech2 laptops ;D

As they have a single use in life, I forget about them ;D.  Dread to think how far behind they are in Windows Updates and AV (but then, as they are never connected to a network, not a problem :D
