I used to use insulating tape, but every time i do wiring with it, i get a torrent of abusive from TB ::)
So going to use some heat srink, on small 12v wires is a hair dryer enough to heat it, or do you need a proper heat gun?
-
I think it might depend on the hairdryer.....some wouldn`t have the wattage or be able to concentrate the heat enough.
I normally use a electric paint-stripper/heat-gun or by wafting a gas blowtorch (set on a low flame and not too close) to get the shrink to recover it`s smaller size.

I carefully use a cigarette lighter :y

I use a powerful hairdryer. Paint stripper heat guns can be a bit much, melting the insulation (and your fingers!)
