Anyone got any for a late 99 3.0 V6??? desperate urgent need....
(sorry for multiple forum posting Jaime.... )
-
covers or the gaskets?
-
covers..... the garage brought one round to me to show me.... the rear end is cracked over the half moon , and the lip is brken away.... thus the leak... youcould only really see it once all the sealant was cleaned off
-
i havent time to poitn fingers at them.... , i just need to get the damn and blasted thing back on the road....
-
Smiths Bloxham had some V6's in, might be worth a trip? Be quickest solution....
-
it might be, if i still had a second vehicle..... or requisite tools.... or the time.... I'm up to my eyes in preparation work for a major trade show presentation this weekend.... god damnn really do not need this right now..... ARGGHHHHHHH
damnnit, hindisght.... should have just bought another car and junked this one instead of servicing it...
still love it, but really.... can't afford the PITA factor at the moment
-
could get them from a Vx dealer but they would charge the earth, think they want about £200 notes :o
I could swing by Smithies in the morning tomorrow on my way to work, and drop them off to you? I am not due in till 12, so could drop them by around 10ish?
-
Mate, that would be amazing !!!! I'D BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL.....
-
pm sent with phone numbers and stuff..... if you're sure you could manage it mate, it would be a life saver.... again ;)

Does anyone know off top of their head what size E socket is needed for V6 cam covers? I am missing a couple want to make sure i have it before heading down there, not got the 3.0 on the drive to check :y
-
Also i assume there is no different pre-facelift to mini-facelift 2.5/3.0 on V6 cam covers?
-
Tunnie....cam covers are the same up to the change to Facelift ..spark plug holes changed.
90501638..offside
90501637..nearside
I bought new in 2008 and cost £65=70 each side +vat.

I'll be taking them off a car in a scrap yard field, so just wanted to double check :y
-
also, can the covers be taken off without injection manifold removed? would save a bit of time

A mate of mine was once prosecuted for 'forgetting' to pay for something from a scrap yard. Our local yards all have some kind of CCTV these days. :y

A quick tale, nowt to do with this thread:
When I worked at Vx in Ellesmere Port, one of the workers went down with a huge thud right outside the security lodge. He had tied an enginge block for a viva around his neck and put a large coat on. Apparently. the strap cut off the blood supply to his brain and he fainted. ;D

i believe this is what's called a tangential incidence of waffle...???
-
thanks to Tunnie for the rescue mission.... seriously, Mark, you're a star
covers being fitted now..... might have a car tonight if i'm lucky....
-
No problemo, handy having your garage so close, i reckon a telescope and you cans see if they torque those cam covers from your front door ;D
-
should add, the passenger side is a right pig to do, took the plenum off and got the covers off in about 20 mins. Getting them out was easy, would not like to put it back on!
-
Yeah, the passenger side is awkward even with the cables and aircon pipe moved out of the way. It's not as easy as the driver's side to feel the half moons either, but still possible if not rushed.
-
passenger side is not too bad if you get someone to hold the cable tray out the way while you manouvre the cover back into place.

Sorry Max, I blame......errr.....everyone but me. Yes. :y
