Title: I was in another country

...for a minute today.

Walked to the bank and spied two foreign-looking guys tracing a cable in someone's front drive that was exiting the ground by the gate post.  I suspect it was armoured and had been laid to power lamps that adorn most property entrances round here.

When I say "tracing", what I really mean is that they had tied the end of the cable to their VW Transporter's towing eye and were trying to uproot it!  The animated instructions from "spotter" to "driver" were in Punjabi or similar.  I would have loved to see what the HSE made of it.

It cheered me no end, once I'd got out of range of the gravel that was flying! ;D ;D

My parents live in one of them BSIF houses, you know the type, steel on 1st floor, and she got a new neighbour when the old man next door died, this new neighbour decided to dig a massive hole in his garden to do summat or other and he came across some cable, was very thick and decided to go at it with an AXE, my father saw what he was up to and stopped him just in time, AFTER he had already chopped it about 3 times.
What could have happened? Don't bear thinking about :D :D :D :D
