Title: The true state of the NHS?
Post by: Nickbat on 09 March 2010, 12:15:44
Something's very, very, wrong when this sort of thing happens.

and the reports will blame "the system" .. which will have "failures that have been addressed" and more double-speak ...  when the truth is simple...

The NURSES and DOCTORS failed .. that is PEOPLE didn't care enough ... it was not a "system" that didn't give him a drink .. it was a PERSON ...

and until someone has the guts to point a finger and say "it was you" it will happen again and again ... but of course .. the Nursing Unions will say that it was not their members fault .. it was management who didn't make the drink available ... the doctors unions will say they were overworked and everyone will blame someone else ...

The NHS .... like Government ... does NOT EXIST AS AN INTELLIGENT ENTITY ... it is made up of individuals who have to  actually do things. ....  not use abdication of responsibility .... simple ...

That is a bloody disgrace, I hope they get what they deserve. What wont happen as usual.

I can only hope that my family or I never have to go into hospital

I cannot speak lowly enough about the NHS from all the experiences members of our family have had in the last 10 years including one which fits this bill.

After the last unsuccessful attempt by the inept hospital staff to kill my dad, he now refuses to go in for a repeat of the same simple operation which would improve his life immeasurably. I would do the same in his position too.

I find it rather bizarre that the hospitals measure their own success and pat themselves on the back when they cannot even keep the places clean or get staff to do the most basic of things like wash their hands and check patients regularly.

Nobody seems to take a pride in doing a good job anymore just what they can get away with.

Can't argue with that, my Aunt was a Ward Matron (40 years ago), you didn't argue with her .. and she believed, passionately, that SHE WAS responsible for what happened on HER ward.

And PROUD to call herself and be called MATRON, where underlings, even doctors were petrified.

speaking as a former nurse, i can honestly say im glad i got out when i did. It was not a nice profession to be in, i loved the job dont get me wrong but the amount of interfering by the top management was ridiculous. We where often run ragged trying to do Petty jobs instead of looking after patients. Im not making excuses because that is absolutely disgusting in my opinion. Thats down to nurses who DONT care. A sign of the times maybe?? who knows but still unexcusable

Apologies to all. :-[

I hate it when a story generates multiple threads. I missed the fact that it had already been posted.

I suppose I'll get "six of the best" from STMO now. I'm standing outside his study as I write this.  :( :-X :'(

I was merely pointing people in the direction of further posts on this subject Nick. However, I know you only did it because you were looking forward to your punishment.

Bend over and brace yourself!
