Title: Pay slips.
Post by: Amigo on 13 March 2010, 22:11:47
I know we're supposed to keep them along with the annual P??? things we get but how long for? I'm paye weekly into the bank & not applying for any sort of finance but kept them for nearly 10 years now.
When is the cut off point to shred 'em up?

I believe the IR can request proof of your finances for 6 years back, but can go further under certain circumstances ...

The limit for financial matters is 6 years, no obligation to go beyond that.  Even then thats more for VAT etc.  If it goes through PAYE then they'll have all the info they need so dont worry unless you want to keep them for something else :y

12 months then in the shredder. P60 is all the evidence you need after that.

When I started as an apprentice for post office telephones in 1969 I got 7 guineas a week. Wasn't bad at all. I picked up £6 18s, gave my mum £3 and lived quite well on £3 18s.
