I wish they wouldn't call them rather' limos when they are funeral cars!!!! >:( >:(
A limo has a mini bar, a tv etc., these have a holder for mansize kleenex!!!!!
-
Why was it that they build an extended Omega, but only equip it with a 2.5 litre engine?! :-/ :-/ :-/
Underpowered or what! ::) ::)

I've been considering a Wilcox Omega statesman limousine, facelift model with the 3.2, in black. The highroof versions clearly are funeral cars, but the normal height roof one's look ok. But Wilcox never made a low version, another company did, and I can only find one with the 2.2 144bhp engine with auto gearbox :-/
Harldy going to be rushing about the place in it, but a V6 would be better.
I've found my ideal one, 2002 '52' 3.2 V6 in black with leather, xenons, 36k miles, Elite interior but no boot spoiler..and it has the front wing mounted flag pole holders, but it's not cheap :D
You could buy a few of Roger Budden's Omega's for the price ;D
-
But you won't get a bottle of Bolly in the kleenex holder though Josh ;D ;D
-
;D very true Lee, you'll just have to wait for my wanted ad in the parts section: Wanted! Champagne cabinet for Omega limousine :D

The V5 will have stretched saloon. The last UK car to have the honour of 'limousine' was the Daimler DS420 .......
which was from a long time before the Yanks bastardised the word to mean some horrible white monstrosity that you'd use for a prom night ::) ::) ::) ;)

They've got a seperate car for that? :o :o ;D
-
I do love the ds420's, but you either buy a cheap one which will undoubtedly need plenty of welding, or a mint one for a lot of money. The last one made I believe is a 1993 'K' registered one which belonged to HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. I think there is a ds420 website with details all about it. I could just about justify an Omega funeral car (to keep Lee happy) ;D but not a ds420.

They're often painted an off/Olde English white & have sides with more waves down their sides than Morecambe beach. ;D ;D ;D ;D
I used to love being driven back to school in one ..... Christ! That was 35 yrs ago! :o

Don't push your luck! Nothing like a boarding school, it was a state grammar school & the DS420 was obvioulsy a funeral car .... but a lot at school didn't know the dirreence between a Daimer & a Rolls Royce :-? :y

Same here, grammar school and kids not recognising cars. I have a 1954 Morris Minor Traveller (woody) and the amount of kids that think it's a beetle ::)

Beetle! :o How do they manage that?
Mmmm? A 'woody Beetle estate'! What are you like at welding? ;D ;D ;D ;D
which reminds me ...... this click here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Aspull,+Wigan,+Lancashire,+United+Kingdom&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=21.856753,56.99707&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=Fd9rMQMdF5XY_w&split=0&hq=&hnear=Aspull,+Wigan,+Lancashire,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.570352,-2.587114&spn=0,359.998261&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=53.570432,-2.587181&panoid=WbB85J7_H4AtX-mC4c4Q2w&cbp=12,37.15,,1,9.48) soft top has now gone. The poor thing was relatively intact till the local yoofs set it on fire. It's been under this tarpaurlin on & off for at least a year. With a bit of luck it's been sold to be restored. :)

Have you tried welding wood? ;D ;D ;D
Followed the link, what soft top? ignore that, I spotted the tarp.

Odd you saying that Andy - my daughter's prom night in July - she desn't want a 'chavvy limo', she wants
My mate's Ferrari 318 GTS Quattrovalve. (SP!).
From Wikipedia.......and it's not set in stone........
"A limousine (or limo) is a luxury vehicle sedan or saloon car, especially one with a lengthened wheelbase or driven by a chauffeur. The chassis of a limousine may have been extended by the manufacturer or by an independent coach builder. These are referred to as "stretch" limousines and are traditionally black or white in color. Limousines are often driven by chauffeurs and until the mid-1990s were most often associated with the very rich[citation needed]. They are also used for special occasions such as weddings, parties and sight-seeing tours."

You need the right welding wire - ash, beech, oak etc or it'll never work!
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
The wood on the Minor is A grade Ash. Hand made and over £1k worth!

Maybe Pete, but the V5 fro a DS420 used to have limousine whereas the stretched Omegas/Senators /etc etc have 'stretched saloon'. The floor pan of a DS420 is or based on that of a MkX/420G Jaguar saloon.
I'm pretty sure that the dictionary definition of a 'coupe' is a car just ahving 2 doors. But Rover had a 4 door Coupe & now Jag have one too. ;)

Oct 57 was the changeover ;)
Rears are truck side markers mounted on the bumper irons, fronts I replaced the side light lenses and backs with glass pre 68 mini minor orange lenses. Moved the sidelights into headlights.

There used to be an old Minor saloon around our way that had the USA type combined red stop/tail/indictor at the back. I belive it's legal if your car is old enough. :y :y :y
Lighting on old cars is poles apart from modern stuff. Rear lamps were tiny & some front side lights were prcatically useless (Jag Mk II ) I know speeds were nothing like today, but it's a wonder old cars ever managed to be seen.
Front lights were hopeless too. My Dad used to have a 1949 Triumph (razor edged) saloon ...... it was similar to but not a Renown, when you dipped the lights, the driver's went OUT :o & the reflector on the nearside swiveled to give the dipped beam to the kerb!

September 63 that was taken off the Minor, my 4 door saloon was registered 1st Sept. 63 and had the side/flash fronts and the later split rears (orange turn).
