Take a look at this picture at the top of this greenie article in The Guardian (where else?).
Forget the article, it's drivel. Just take a look at the photo and tell me with a straight face that it isn't Photoshopped.

Cooling towers emit steam, which is white. If this much black smoke started coming out, the entire Yorkshire Fire Brigade would be on its way.
I guess that to some in the media, though, white smoke just doesn't cut the mustard when you've a cause to push. >:(
I'll stick to the blogosphere for my news, thanks.

Absolutely bang on the money again Nickbat :y

considering they are steam towers, must be some new kind of new black steam ;D
Never seen nothing but white steam from power station towers before :-/

For what it is worth I have registered a complaint here http://www.pcc.org.uk/complaints/form.html
Probably won't do any good, but the more complaints they get the better.

it appears they may solved the greatest scientific mystery....DARK MATTER.
so that's where it's been hiding..right under our noses all the time, in cooling towers, who'd have thought !!!.

they been doing this for ages, most images that appear in Newspapers & magazines have been photoshoped. If you cast your mind back to when Princess Di was having a fling with Dodi nearly all images of them getting close were manipulated & there is no limit on how far you can go to change a picture. I have even seen a pic of Princess Di flying Concorde that was made up last year, on a personal note i think it missleads the public & dont agree with it

Having thermalled in a glider above a coal fired power station (Didcot, IIRC) I have probably come closer then most to their efflux. One slightly nicotine-coloured cloud generated by the actual chimney (the only part that emits anything other than water vapour, of course) that smelt a bit sulphurous if thermalling under it. You were hard pushed to find it amongst all the perfect white cumulus, though. Great fun on a Sunday afternoon when everyone else's got their Sunday roast in, loading it up nicely.
Someone has been taking the p*ss with that picture. ;D
Shame photoshop's never got good enough for Cherie Blair really. :-X

I reckon they should shoot the stokers if that picture is real...............which it is not! ::) ::) ;)

That is f**king disgusting. Is it any wonder that people are sceptical? >:(

I consider that to be tantamount to perpetration of terminological inexactitude. ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D
P.S. Textspeak is not allowed under forum rules - presumably "mate" has too many letters. ::)

Mind you, for the ultimate PhotoShop deception, you can't beat the cover of Al Gore's new book. Not only are four hurricanes airbrushed in but the one near Florida is actually the wrong way round (hurricanes rotate anti-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere!). ;D ;D ;D ;D
Why is that they have to resort to blatant distortions?
