I had my proper interview for my job which has been retitled basically on friday and i got a right grilling off the national contracts manager. All the questions he asked i answered as best as i could, seeing as they all related to dayshift and i only work nights :-? and so when i talked to the other lads asking how their interviews went only my best mate had the same type of interview whilst the other 4 claimed to have only been asked a couple of questions and that their interviews only lasted 5 mins whilst mine and my mates lasted nearly half an hour :-? ..... So i reckon that i must be 1 of those that has been chosen for redundancy as i`m just 2 months shy of 2 years here and they wont have to pay me any redundancy..... Ah well if it happens it happens i`ll just have to and sign on and look for agency work driving or sumat..... :(

Looks bad, but keep your fingers crossed mate
-
Chin up, maybe they grilled you because they intend on keeping you. Fingers crossed for you buddy :y
-
Why spend an hour grilling you to get rid of you, and 5 mins to keep someone else.
Doesnt make sence.
Stay possitive till you know onw way or the other.
As Gaffers and the others have said, chin up matey. :y

I feel for you Bertie, I was made redundant pretty much a year ago and fully understand how you feel at the moment...
-
Fingers crossed for you, it is an awful time waiting.
I have been made redundant, but the worse thing was having to make five of my staff out of 25 redundant. It is a thankless task deciding who, and then breaking the news, all I could do was do it quickly all at the same time, and then set up support for them.
-
Fingers crossed for you mate ;)
-
Good luck pal :y
Did they give you any idea when the decision will be made?
-
Fingers crosed mate. You've had more than your share of bad luck lately.
We all love you matey!!!! :y
-
Good luck Bertie, but if the worst happens please stay away from the cucumber isle in Tesco's. ;D ;D

Me neither. The whole process stinks from where I'm sitting. :-/
Someone needs to take them to task, armed with some representation, IMHO.

Yes does sound a bit strange. Know what you mean about your wife too; we do tend to worry about our partners, especially if things are up in the air, and then they worry that we worry ...... nightmare!
Hang in there pal, and hang on to each other :y

This procedure is usual these days as employers need to be seen to doing the right things and not acting in haste. I am dealing with a similar case for someone which is scheduled to go to Tribunal in June - over a year since the redundancy selection and they had to go through sham interviews first.
Have written a letter for someone else in a dispute - she only works 5 half days and for family reasons needs to go down to 4. The employer is trying to get her to sign a new contract which ignores the 17 years she has worked there and states she does not get paid when sick. There are some thoroughly rotten people and dirty tricks being played on people who do not know their way around contracts and grievance procedures. Should hear on this one on April 6th.
Any hint of unfair selection for redundancy you should make sure you raise grievances under procedure set out in contract.

Do you know what is crap about all this??? Ecp lost the contract in december and we rolled over under TUPE on feb the 1st..No probs lads you`ve all got ya jobs dont worry...Then 2 weeks into the new contract with new employers they decide to make the role of Retail Park Monitor redundant and create a new role of Facilities Support Assistant which we all have to apply for as our old role would no longer exsist...The only differance in roles is i have to litter pick and empty bins on the retail park....We did not do that under Ecp we had cleaners who did that role... So in changing the role and using economic circumstances as an excuse they make 3 role redundant on the site and save 65 hours in pay per week as 8 people into 5 wont go...So 3 people lose their jobs and AEJ`S save money.....Even after underbidding Ecp by 2 million on the nationwide contract, plus this happening on all sites owned by capital and regional that are managed by AEJ Facilities management.....Also AEJ signed a new contract with the corps of commissionaires to monitor all Junction retail parks via Real time CCTV during 1900hrs and 0700hrs (my night shift) and this 1 person has complete access to all sites cctv and tannoy equipment this deal cost junction£100,000 for a 2 year contract...See where i`m going with this?? this means they can do away with night shift personnel and make further savings of at least £16,000 a year per site and thats 13 sites from capital and regionals Junction retail parks and does not include their leisure side yet.....It aint about staffing levels or service for the customer its about AEJ getting their foot in the door and then recuperating the £2,000,000 they gave up when bidding for the contract..... :y
