"Gordon Brown could continue as Prime Minister for weeks even if he loses the election, under Whitehall proposals to prevent a run on the pound in the event of a hung parliament."

Whatever gives you that idea?
He's my drinking buddy. OK, he lies like a flatfish, throws Nokias at me when he gets stressed, never buys a round, gurns embarrassingly and thinks he's always right even when he isn't...but, hey, no-one's perfect! ;)

apparantly we are in a recession under labour, but we'rent we also in a recession under conservatives last time?...doesn't matter who gets in, nothing will change, all full of empty promises....make the omega owners club the new prime minister, we'll sort the country out!

Guys you should see the situation in my country.
4,5 milion people live here.
1,1 milion work
almost 1 milion retired
320 thousand unemployed ( and growing every month at a rate of about 12 thousand a month).
and almost half a milion !? people who have privileges as ex soldiers from the war 15 years ago.
TRust me it could be worse over there ;D
-
76.5 million population ..
they say 4 million I say minimum 10 million unemployed .. >:(
8 million retired..
employment.. bah forget it ..

THEN (2005 General Election Result)
Labour 35.3%
Conservative 32.3%
Liberal Democrats 22.1%
NOW (based on independent poll of polls) http://www.ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/uk-polling-report-average
Labour 26%-34%
Conservative 35%-40%
Liberal Democrats 15%-21%
based on the latest polls.......
worst case scenario for Labour and best case scenario for Conservative would result in a 21-25 seat majority Conservative Government
worst case scenario for Conservative and best case for Labour would result in a Labour majority of 6 seats :o
my guess would be we're somewhere the two extremes but looking at it in more detail, the tories at best are sitting on 40% if that drops even 1% to a 39% share of the vote, we're looking at a hung parliament
you can have a play around with the swingometer here
