Title: A cry for help (parts!) - Sixstrings Miggy
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 02 April 2010, 20:35:59
Guys and Gals,

Sixstring and I set about changing his cambelt today, only to find when we removed the cover, everything was plastered in oil. (Plastered!)

The camcover gaskets and cam seals are bone dry, but we traced the leak to the oil cooler unions in the "V".

Unfortunately the coolant bridge bolts were very brittle and one of them broke on removing. Just one of those things, unfortunately.

Managed to get the remaining thread outta the head OK, with an Irwin socket - but nonetheless, we are a bolt down.

Question is, does anyone have any banjo bolts? I'm going to try my dealer tomorrow - as is Sixstring, but if we can't get one, we are a bit stuck.

The cambelt kit and all front end stuff etc has all been done - it's literally just awaiting these banjo bolts, before the inlet and plenum can go back on

Does anyone have any banjo bolts - any amount, please?

If it comes to it - even a used one in good condition would be considered... and I will drive any reasonable distance to get it  :y

Well, it's unfortunate that it broke - but to be fair to the bolt, it's done 140k miles -

It's now just a case of doing what we can to source one :y

Chaps - all appreciated. Fingers crossed our local dealers will have something  - just looking for backup sources.

Here's hoping someone has one in their garage  ::)

Joking aside, I've found the whole saga funny as hell, as those I have spoken to will no doubt confirm ;D

After paying £2.25  :o for 1 spring the other day from the stealers, I really don't doubt it...  I actually tried my preferred motor factors first, who sadly informed me that it was a stealer only part...  :'(  A fricking spring  >:(
