Title: Hello & Goodbye (high res pic warning)
Post by: HerefordElite on 01 April 2010, 12:24:58
Hello guys and gals, long time no speak, not been on here for ages due to new baby and lots of projects round the home and...
I've bought a new car not an Omega sorry, I wanted a tdi estate but the 2.2 mig just hasn't got enough oomph, so I've got an audi  A6 Avant 2.5tdi Quattro Sport :P

I really don't have the time for this forum which is a damn shame as it's a fantastic place (and there is nothing to compare to it in the audi world) but as a final post i'd like some more advice :-[...

what shall i do with my old mig? It's a 97R 3litre auto Elite with leather int.
done 133K mechanicaly good with breathers cleaned and new gaskets and leads/plugs last summer (thanks to oof) cambelt and tensioners changed last year as well (thanks again to oof).
On the down side it's rusting to oblivion and really needs 4 new doors and rear arches (which is why i'm getting rid)
It has MOT till Jan 2011 and 3 months tax so very much roadworthy and because of the emotional attachment i'm reluctant to break it but it realy isn't worth a lot is it??? :-/

TBH Steve, when I 1st joined the forum I thought you were just a rotton idiot with every one and was actually quite pleased when you left.  But when you came back I realised why people had missed you, and I now spend half my time with bloody sore ribs with the ammount of laughing I have done reading some of your reply's

So keep up the good work you cantankerous old pedantic fart. :y :y

That is a nice looking Audi.!!

Best thing to do with that rusting Omega is have a touring holiday this summer and drive(one way) to southern Spain. Have a few beers at my gaffe, bit of sun, BBQ etc. Then I will drive you to the airport.

No need to worry then what to do with the car.

No of course not, but equally wouldn't be charging either.

My aim would be to acquire a stock of old Omegas(any of the Boys cars for example) and then organise "workshops" to fault find (could start with mine), fix and share expertise. What better way for Omega Barons to top up their expertise, sun tan and beer belly?

I bet there wouldn't be many other car forums with such a centre of excellence based in the sun.

like it mate - good idea - you supply tools etc.  When will it be up and running?  Take it you have a decent pool bar ;)

pool, bar, tools except for welding kit.

It could be up and running as soon as the classroom material arrives. Ideally minifacelift Elites but really any would do including Diesels (even).

In the meantime please generously click www.makeadonationtoVarche.com. You never know one day you might need help!

Hi all how we doing
Title: Re: Hello & Goodbye (high res pic warning)

Sounds like a plan, buy poorly Elites, then charge people to do an Elite Reair Workshop (ERW) and let them fault find and fix.

Will you be doing bodyshop repairs aswell.  Then I could have a drive over, you make some money from teaching others and I get my Elite bumbers removed and refitted and some little dinks and scratches filled and sorted at some poor sods the ERW   :y :y

No you have misread the plan. I won't be buying any Omegas. They will be donated. No one will be charged to do an ORW (though that sounds tempting).

If there is a problem with an Omega then someone on the forum will be able to fix it(or learn to fix it at the academy) and then pass on that knowledge to other forum members. So I guess it might include bodywork.

PS Mr S have you clicked and made your donation yet please?
