Sorry to hear that Bertie. Was it you that was having problems with TUPE a month or so back or am I confusing you with someone else?? Is this the end result? :-/ :-/

Yep this is the end result of TUPE and a company`s way of getting its own way....... >:(
-
Soz to hear that :'(
-
Very sorry to hear that Bertie, is there any chance of recourse with the whole TUPE thing? Surely what they have done is not legal?

As I said on the phone, something will come up, I'll keep digging my end as I know a few people who work for Westfields ;)
You'll have to come down one evening for a few bevvies :y

So sorry mate, as Steve said, you've had a shite time of it and I hope something comes your way soon. In the meantime, give the b******s as much grief as possible

If you feel that you have been unfairly treated you need to take some action.
Firstly, was the basis of the selection - were the criteria for selecting people advised in advance.
Get as much info together as you can.
Under the grievance procedure in the contract of employent you could ask for a meeting to get a proper explanation and also appeal but have some genuine grounds for appeal. If you feel that the employers have made a reasonable decision then of course you have an uphill battle but from what you said before - there was a hint that a decision had already been made and the discussions with all staff were a sham. These days last in does not mean first out.
For redundancy programmes the employer will have some published info - you need to consider that carefully to decide if you have unfairly treated or not. At this stage you are looking for ammo that you can elevate the matter internally within the disciplinary procedure - you are not yet in tribunal territory but you need to exhuast the company's own systems first.
Treat this as a project for now to avoid getting too wound up about it and see if you can at least put them on the back foot and possibly some sort of package. The TUPE thing needs to be looked at.

Sorry to hear that.. :(

You lot cheared like you'd won the league the other week when we played you and it ended in a draw :D :D
Chin up mate there will be something out there for you. I'm about to start work again after a few months on the dole. Treat it as a holiday and claim for everything....like everyone else does ;)
-
Bad news mate, hope something else comes up soon..... :y
-
It really gets you down mate, i know just how it feels (3 times in one year), but i've had a excellent turn around recently & lifes really looking good.
Send out as many CV's as you can (even for jobs that you may think you don't stand a chance). Hand them in at receptions of local companies, this will save you a fortune on stamps. E-mail them off too.
Look at the Jobcenter website every day, some employers have a quota (say 50 applications) & then the job gets pulled.
I hope all's well for you soon :y :y :y :y

Feel for you . Same thing happened to me. Company was sold we were told everything would be alright. Tupe transfer and all that. Nine days later 29 of us laid off. Been there 20 months so no redundancy payment. Second time in two years. Keep positive and dont give up. There is another job out there.
-
Yeah i`ve been registering on g4s,reliance and other security firms and even applying for a couple of jobs and even swallowed my pride and rung comet(lol) to see if they have any driver/installer vacancies ::) and i`m gonna go up the job centre on weds to see what i`ve gotta do and what benfits i will eligible for to help pay next months bills....2nd time in my working life i`ve been made redundant so i guess a lots changed.... :-[

I've had to claim the dole twice in the last 7 months so i'm "experienced" in it ;)
All the job centre will do is give you a little booklet and tell you to ring this number on it - 0800 0 55 66 88
The phone call
The line is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Ring this number ASAP. Your claim won't start till you ring them so i can't stress how quickly you need to ring it, so try tomorrow even though its a Bank Holiday.
If you're calling them from a mobile they will offer to ring you back as it takes ages, as does waiting for them to answer the phone.
They will ask you if you wish to claim housing benefit. Say yes and eventually your council will contact you. Mine took 4 months.
They will make an appointment for you to go to the job centre. It may take a few days ;)
Oh and remember, you have no savings and you're not sure how much redundancy you'll get or when you'll get it ;)
The job centre
You will then talk over your claim details with an advisor and they will tell you how much you are entitled to...don't laugh cos they don't find it funny.
They will also tell you what they expect you to do in order to qualify for your money. This will be checking the local rag, registering with agencies, checking their website etc.
